thank you Kool...so let me ask all of you, when you go to these sites they aren't the same as Kazaa-lite with (1) all the attendant spyware and (2) per the RIAA are not considered to be illegal?

What sites? You mean sendspace? That's a file host site, which I don't think the RIAA monitors. It's nothing like Kazaa. Of course, technically speaking, even this is 'illegal', but everyone's doing it. Unless you mean the sites we actually get the music from. Most of us I think use torrents, which is is the fastest, safest way to go. But you can also get full albums from various blogs. Do a little googling and you'll see how it easy it is to find basically anything you're looking for. oh, and spyware is not an issue, as long as you know what you're doing and you're 'protected'. Might as well put up a couple more links since I'm here... www.sendspace.com/file/kkekpfwww.sendspace.com/file/1g7hj6btw, did you know even ripping mp3s for your iPod from CDs you actually bought is illegal too. But that's hardly going to stop people from doing it. Just like we made tapes back in the day.

You'll have to get Win RAR ... !

Bow uses a Mac , so he doesn't need winrar to unzip files. I think his unzipping software does it for him. So he doesn't need to download anything. Rapidshare, as already noted by Ayinger on the 'what are you listening to' board, is merely a file hosting site, just like Sendspace, yousendit, etc.

Not necessarily. I think latest editions of winzip can unzip .rar files too. But even if you can't, I'll put up a link for a registered version of it. Try downloading a .rar file instead of the usual .zip ones. If you can't decompress/extract it using winzip, download and install this... It'll only take a minute of your time. www.sendspace.com/file/843ovr

oh my lord!!.....I am a kid in a candy shop!

Bow ... Resistance is futile ! Welcome to the dark side of the Force ... BTW, if I was you, I'd be more preoccupied with all that swearing ...

One of the nicest things I discovered on some blogs was the wealth of "bootleg" material as well as ripped versions of albums that have yet to be issued on CD (hello T-Bone Burnett Proof Through The Night and that powerpop nugget by Chicago's The Kind that I never thought I'd ever hear again......).
ha, we oughta take up a collection and ship Bow some blank CD-Rs!
----just thought too, isn't WinRar something you have to purchase after 30 days of use? I ended up downloading a free program called 7-Zip to unpack .rar files.....in fact, I think someone here turned me onto it.

well Kitchens of Distinction was zip file so no problem.............
oh geez, I feel like when I was first introduced to Kazaa-lite......then when the RIAA reared it's ugly little head, I curtailed "file sharing"....but if all of you opine that (1) this is not illegal and (2) you don't get tons of spyware, then I'm sold!!!!
