that is definitely the songlist from the 1983 Serious Moonlight tour...I saw Bowie four times that year!!! i think that kool or ryo (or possibly the 'lou live in italy' rocky sent me) had sent/posted links via sendspace...so i musta signed on to that, otherwise i don't think i've 'signed onto'(aka registered) any other dl websites. rapidshare sucks if simply for their non-premium 1 and a ½ to 2 hour waiting in between downloads...which of course IS a nice little marketing stratagem for capturing someone who wants a 5 or 7 part download, like NOW. but fuck them. i'll wait. still i'm asterisk-ing the sites that largely use non-rapidshare means-of-distribution, but rapidshare still seems to have HUGE chunk of the market UNfortunately....but why DO they cut up a 90 to 160 minute performance into like 7 fucking pieces/downloads in so many cases? here's a can't miss bootleg i'm working on now: slikstricks.blogspot.com/search/label/Stevie%20Ray%20Vaughan
'Dallas Moonlight'
Excellent Sound. Includes covers and the full story of the short lived Bowie/SRV relationship as told by David in 2001.
“In fact there is a bootleg out there somewhere containing one days playing, a gem for those that can find it.” David Bowie
You have found it. I'm glad I did.

oh man, is this thing wonderful...on a lot of different levels.
great sound and you've got bowie doing very serious run-throughs of those songs (and it sounds like) without any audience whatsoever, but a RAWKIN' band with a pretty big # of personnel, horn sections backup singers n'shit.
and srv is essentially a role-playing sideman, tho ya know it's him.
tho i still haven't listened to the 7+ minute station to station...side 2's for the car on the ride home today.

OK, last time I bring this up, but one last question....so I"ve become incredibly enamored with the various and sundry blogs some of you have introduced me to..........so now, to allay my conscience/fear, I have a couple of questions:
(1) unequivocally, these blogs are not unlike Napster/Kazaa, etc and the other file sharing platforms.....so can we all agree that they are still manifestations of copyright infringement?
(2) Today I had a discussion with a colleague who is a lawyer and he recently represented a client who had quite a few songs on their hard-drive and also had them all available for uploading......not sure which of the file sharing communities this individual belonged to, but her ISP gave her up and she settled for $1,750...........
so, my question to you all: how under the radar do you think these blogs are from the watchful eye of the RIAA?.........from what the lawyer said today, these blogs serve the same type of function as the Kazaa-lites' of the world and users of such would not be immune from prosecution...........if they were subpoened then they would be required to give up those who have accessed music via these blogs..
........so besides my moral compass marginally gone awry if this is truly copyright infringement, on a more selfish scale, do any of you fear the RIAA?...or do you think there are so many blogs that this just wont' happen?
....just curious!!!!

Bow ~ As long as you don't keep music *gleaned* from the internet on your computer and make it available to share via a P2P site, you should be fine ... I think ! !

i move it off via .rar-to-mp3-to-.wav-to-cd conversion (or flac-to-.wav) and then accumulate enough .rar's to fill 4.7 gigabytes on a dvd and save that sort of 'work' off-site.
it may or may not be 'safe' i dunno...
$1750, eh?

RN..I do the same....I download the .rar or .zip file, then save it to CD and then delete from the harddrive..but the lawyer said it didn't matter what is or is not on your harddrive...rather, the attorneys subpoena the IPS and they get a history of what you downloaded..................... i move it off via .rar-to-mp3-to-.wav-to-cd conversion (or flac-to-.wav) and then accumulate enough .rar's to fill 4.7 gigabytes on a dvd and save that sort of 'work' off-site. it may or may not be 'safe' i dunno... $1750, eh?

That's a lot of fuckin' Steve Hackett. I, personally, feel that "Spectral Mornings" and "Please Don't Touch" are just about all the Hackett anyone needs outside of his work with Genesis.
Old conversation of the .rars and music blogs, but I would like to make the point that any "moral issues" that dling may present should be viewed on a case by case scale. Impossible to do, I know...but as for me, seeing as how I've already spent 47 years spending money on music and looking at the prospect of not being able to do that anymore, these posts are fundamental in getting music to me...music that I would hope the artist would WANT to be heard. A good chunk of what I download are albums I used to have but had to sell at some point, so I figure I've already paid for that music. Then there are the out-of-print albums that generate no money whatsoever for manufacturer, distributor, retail or artist anyway, so I see absolutely no point in arguing that these dls are biting into anyone's livelihood. And, of course, there's the old claim that offering music for free on the Internet leads to cd sales when people are introduced to a band that really resonates with them. The old exposure models are outdated. There's a LOT more music commercially available than ever before...If hearing a song on a music blog inspires someone to go out and buy an artist's full catalog (and no doubt that happens more than the nay-sayers would like to admit), well where's the problem?
The RIAA can come and get me. Surely they have bigger eggs to fry, though.
