I love Jello's voice, but it's not hard at all to see how it can grate.
Looking closer at the original list, though, I'd say that the last Jello and the Melvins album was better than close to half of it.

Jello made an album with the Melvins??
Wow, I really am out of it. I can't believe I didn't even know that.

Yeah, he's got two of them. The Melvins heard the garbage that was DK without Jello and gave him a call.
It's all original stuff, though they do have a pretty kick-ass CUA remake where Jello rags on Arnold and does this impression of him that sound exactly as you would imagine Jello doing an Ah-Nuld impression would.
Sieg Howdy!, which came out last year, only has seven new songs but is rounded off with Al Jourgensen remixes of stuff off the first Jello/Melvins album. Great stuff.

Yes, it's called "You Can't Breathe What You Can't See" and it's amazing!!!!!!!!! I actually really like Jello's voice because it's so goddamn terrible. I can't really think of anyone outside of Patti Smith in punk that could actually sing really well. Ok and David Byrne......but other than that most of them couldn't really sing but none of them sounded as cool as Joe Strummer though.
I'm with you on the Post-Punk thing though, Mary. As I grow older, I look at that particular time in music as one of the most innovative, challenging, and just down right bizarre in popular culture that brought some fantastic alien sounding music.
I will admit that I don't get the Refused thing. To me it was just a bunch of genre hopping emo kids that did it for schtick because they just didn't have much to say. Look at the band The International Noise Conspiracy, which features former members of Refused, and you can see that they lifted their schtick from the DC greats of Nation of Ulysses and The Make Up. I still just look at them as nothing but Swedish kids without an original thought in the bones of their bodies.
As far as new punk, I think the Riot Grrl thing was kind of a last gasp for punk rock. I think Sleater Kinney and Bikini Kill really kept the original spirit alive as well as bands like Q and Not U on the dischord label. There are still some good punk bands out there as well like The Exploding Hearts, who revivalist as they are, are just too good to ignore.

I'm assuming that the reason that Vs. is nowhere to be found is because Mission of Burma is also "post-punk" as opposed to "punk"? I get confused on this shit.

Yes. As much as I wanted to put Mission to Burma on there, I do consider them post-punk. Believe me, I thought about it for a while because I think they are just one of the most important American bands in a long time.

Great stuff. in theory, this sounds awesome. in practice, jello's voice is jello's voice no matter who is backing him up, so it will probably make me want to jam a pencil through my eye. speaking of al jourgensen, i was watching youtube clips of live ministry a few nights ago. crazy fucking shit! awesomeness.

i thought about putting mission of burma on. but decided (no offense rocky) i don't like them quite enough to cheat and cross them over from postpunk to punk. i did with gang of four and the pop group and swell maps cause i looooooooove those bands. mission of burma, i am less hyper-enthusiastic about, because i really love some of their songs and others leave me cold. but if it was a best post-punk list (new board!!) then i'd put 'em on for sure.

Skinny Puppy with Britney Spears would be a dream come true. Sorry, Mary, that would just be cool. I am such a huge fan Spear's single "Toxic". That is a fantastic song.

Kerrang sucks whether or not a punk list is on it. I'll take metal hammer any day of the week.
A petition should be started to have Britney front SP. Imagine the sick shite that Ogre could do onstage whilst in the duet of "Hit me baby one more time"

Oh, man, that's hot. HOT!. Me and my best friend were actually talking about the same thing last night.
I have heard an advance copy of the new Skinny Puppy and it is, of course, the shit.
