I couldn't even think of an appropriate question here. Who's the true genius? Who is a better singer? Who is the better songwriter? Who has been more influential? I could go on...
I suppose this is about as pointless a poll as the Zep vs Clash poll, but I'm curious to see how this one will turn out.
I can't decide right now. I'll probably vote tomorrow...

Are we just talking solo careers or should we be taking the Smiths and Talking Heads into account?

Everything they have done in the past should be taken into account, including what they did with their bands. If it were just solo I'd vote for Moz. Granted, it hasn't been great all the way, but I think it's been (slightly) better than Byrne's solo output.

Yeah, but I don't think if you add up all of the Smiths and Moz solo output they add up to the first four Talking Heads albums.

This really just came down to idiosyncratic taste for me. David Byrne's hiccupy voice has always irritated me, and something about the world-fusion stuff rubs me the wrong way. It's so...earnest. Or something. I don't even know how to put it. Byrne is obviously awesome and talented, he just doesn't quite sit right with my sensibility. So I voted for Moz, although that's more based on the Smiths than his solo career, which could charitably be described as spotty.
This was kind of a tossup for me, ultimately.
Cheers, M

I know very little of either one of their solo careers. I like the Talking Heads slightly more than I like the Smiths (though I like both), so I voted David Byrne.

Oh, also David Byrne gets some credit for playing with John Cale.

This is a tough one. I wanna vote Moz, but not sure if I can. The Smiths were great, but the Talking Heads are sorta the turning point for rock music.
Solo-wise is hard, too. Neither has had THAT great a career, but they've both had a few goodies here and there. I'd say Moz has had more good stuff, but he's also had more crap. I just dunno.

This is a no-brainer. I was just listening to Feelings this afternoon ... I still think this is Byrne's best (and certainly most enjoyable) solo LP. It's not on the same level as Talking Heads best work, but it's a good listen. Mozz? Didn't we decide that was the new UK slang for mosquito? Mozz on a Plane or something like that?

I never cared much for Morrissey, so...

I guess we can say that Kens don't like Morrissey.

Byrne is gay? Really? I've never heard that about him before.

I've never heard that, either. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
