It was about time someone else voted for Morrissey. I eventually voted for him too. The dude has a better voice and is a better lyricist than David Byrne. His music, especially with the Smiths, means a lot more to me than Talking Heads music does (despite the fact that their first 4 albums were fantastic)
Also, if we're comparing individual songs, the Smiths easily take Talking Heads for me. "How Soon Is Now", "This Charming Man", "Panic", "Bigmouth Strikes Again", "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out".., no individual song by the Heads has had the effect on me that these songs have had.
Solo output? Hmm, more or less the same. Both have been pretty spotty and both have reminded of past glories without quite reaching them. Morrissey probably came closer to doing so on occasion. So in the end I based my vote more on what they did with their ex-bands.
