Kool - did you pick up the latest Pearl Jam? That gets my top spot, by a narrow margin over Tim's masterpiece.

I haven't heard the latest Neko Case (hey M, that's one of your faves that I'd love you to YSI me), and I'm only now checking out the last RHCP in full, but here's my complete list of albums I've heard this year that deserve Top Ten type status ...
Best of 2006 (that I've heard as of 12/11/6) ...
1. Pearl Jam, Pearl Jam 2. Imaginary Kingdom, Tim Finn (one of the best records I've ever heard from a rocker over fifty, and a brilliant LP by any measure) 3. Make History, Thunderbirds Are Now!
Sad, I know. For some reason iTunes is trying to tell me that the first Arctic Monkeys album came out this year as well, but I could've sworn that was 2005. If it counts for '6, then that would be in at number four, so far.

I'm not certain, but I think that that Arctic Monkeys album probably got released in the UK in '05, but not in the US until early '06. Probably easy to check out, but I'm feeling lazy.

For some reason I'm thinking the same thing. So I guess I could put it either place ... guess I'll use it to flesh out this year's (so far pathetic) list. I'm actually enjoying Stadium Arcadium (at least the first disc) a hell of a lot more than I'd thought I would. I've been able to ignore Anthony's lyrics and just appreciate the grooves thus far. Don't know if that'll hold up over two discs (good lord these guys need an editor! and Rick Rubin (responsible for the bloated BSSM as well, I believe) sure as hell ain't it!), but it's making pleasant background tunes right now. If it keeps up, this might be enough to land a spot on my top ten as well. One that definitely won't make it for me is Dylan's latest. I tried to revisit this again a while back, and it still sounds like a bad Dylan imitation rather than the real thing. Easily the most disappointing thing I've heard this year.

Frag, you've got way too much energy this early in the day. Or maybe it's just that the headaches and nightmares I've been fighting for the past three days have left me really fucking dragging.
Anyway, put Arctic Monkeys in there at number four on my list, then. At this rate I'll at least have a top five soon.

You'd be happy to know that Whatever You Say I Am... finally grew on me, and I do enjoy listening to it now

However, I still think that Beck's new one is my favorite release from the past year. That or Pearl Jam's latest. I don't know.

Made some slight alterations, and expanded it to 15. The top 5-6 could still pretty much be in any order though. Loved all those albums...
1) Mission of Burma - The Obliterati 2) Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood 3) Natsumen -- NEVER WEAR OUT yOUR SUMMER xxx!!! 4) Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam 5) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium 6) Robert Pollard - From a Compound Eye 7) The Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia... 8) Thunderbirds Are Now! - Make History 9) Golden Smog - Another Fine Day 10) The Mars Volta - Amputecture 11) Glenn Kotche - Mobile 12) Loose Fur - Born Again in the USA 13) TOOL - 10,000 Days 14) The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers 15) Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped
