Still waiting on the Blanche EP to arrive, and haven't heard the new Tenacious D yet, but here's my list for the year (although it definately is flexible). Quite a few albums I really, really liked this year.
1) Mission of Burma - The Obliterati 2) Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood 3) Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam 4) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium 5) Robert Pollard - From a Compound Eye 6) The Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia... 7) Golden Smog - Another Fine Day 8) Thunderbirds Are Now! - Make History 9) The Mars Volta - Amputecture 10) Glenn Kotche - Mobile
I also liked the releases by the Raconteurs and TOOL, but not enough to make the list. And I like the Sonic Youth record more now than when it came out, but I'm still disappointed with it.
Those top 5 could really be in any order. And I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

RHCP, Rocky? Seriously? Wow, man. That's balls, dude. I think that record is by far the biggest major label turd dropped by a once great band in a long time.

Yeah, but you decided that before the album even came out. There's not a bad song on it.

I bought it the day it came out because I actually liked the lead single and I thought the video was actually kind of funny. I have all of Frusciante's solo records and I have been a huge fan of the last 2 albums that they have done, even going so far as to defend the record that they did Dave "Small Talent" Bizarro.
It's not an elitism thing, I honestly just don't like it that much. If the whole record had been like "Animal Bar" we would have a different story, but it's just not very good to me.
You know what they say when people make assumptions.......

Justin Timberlake gets my honorary nod. Were it not that my top ten is so strong, he might even have earned a spot.

I love the new Timberlake record. It's pure genius.

Yeah, Justin's album sounds great, the production on it is top notch. The first half is awesome, but the slower cuts toward the end are kinda boring. Edited down to a 9-10 track album, it would've been excellent.

Yeah, but you decided that before the album even came out. There's not a bad song on it. I've only heard the singles and they're fucking embarassing.
