You get the Doom trilogy tomorrow. Cool. That's actually what I was kind of angling for. The awful thing is, personal experiences/memories aside, I'd really like to really like Neil Young. But every time I spend a lot of time with his catalog, I wind up disappointed. It's like he tried to model his entire career on New Morning or Planet Waves or something. Honestly, John Mellencamp has made more consistently excellent records than Neil Young has. I'd rather hear Scarecrow or Big Daddy than any complete recording in Young's catalog. You have really bad taste in music. Look, it doesnt have to be 'flawless' to be incredible. Here's an example of how a song's flaws can be not only endearing but brilliant: download.yousendit.com/3E09EC050093ACDB Rocky, you must be a huge Lou Reed fan to think Berlin was any good. I have a copy of it on CD that I would gladly trade it to you for two popcycle sticks and bubble gum wrapper.

This is actually a tougher choice than I thought & I'm not even hardcore into Bowie. Not even softcore into Bowie really.

I voted for "Low". I think it's his best and it's definitely my favorite.

What about Neil Young? He's neck and neck with Dylan IMO. Dylan has a few years head start on him, and no one can touch Dylan's early folk stuff. My God, that stuff is a national treasure. Right on loudaab

Neil Young can't touch Bowie or DylanYoung has never made a flawless record -- even his best stuff has serious flaws. Could you site a specific example of one of Young's best albums that has a serious flaw? And isn't having flaws part of being human? So does this make Young's work more human than Bowie's "flawless" work? haha, I think I'm going to like having you around here, excellent question

Outta gum wrapper at the moment, but how often is it you get the opportunity to trade in BERLIN for a homemade POPSICLE SWITCHBLADE? IM me w/your address & I'll mail it over; my copy of Berlin has been lost this, oh, past 20 yrs or so

'Berlin' is a dark pop masterpiece. That's what your are SUPPOSED to think if you want to have Hipster cred. But come on. It's terrible. You will be hard pressed to find too many bigger Lou Reed fan than me, but I'm not going to say I like something that's horse crap just out of blind loyalty to him. Here's two questions: WHen is the last time you actually sat through the entire album? Other than MMM what Lou Reed album(s) would you say is worst than this one?

ain't hard pressed at all findin a bigger lou reed fan than you, and who are you by the way, the world's official authority on opinions? Jesus dude, in your opinion Berlin may be "terrible", and by the way, I don't find that album to be great out of "blind loyalty" McFly, my soul was devoted to that album's music and lyrics 20 yrs ago out of the purest ability to relate to the profound sorrow expressed therein. Consider yourself lucky you don't "get it", but try and learn some manners in expressing yourself from now on why don'tcha?
Hint: use the 'imo' tag when you proclaim your pompous opinions around here as if you were the sole authority
