Beatles or Replacements Let It Be?

Let It Be is fucking awesome. From the first staccato notes of "I Will Dare" through the open-throated wail of "Unsatisfied" right through the end of the record, this is one for the ages. Westerberg and company hit the perfect balance of adolescent pout and angst with growing adult awareness and peg one of (if not) the greatest coming of age records in rock. I love Let It Be.

Shit, I meant to say Nelson. I got my girlie looking-sibling groups confused here.

Yeah, but that's 'cause Tim tilts more to the self-aware adult side than Let It Be. But Let It Be is the best album mentioned in the title of this thread. And it's probably my third favorite 'mats album -- behind both Tim and Pleased to Meet Me. Speaking of which, Alex Chilton just might be the most fun you can have in a song about another rocker. The sheer thrill in Westerberg's voice as he shouts out "I never travel far without a little Big Star .... oooh!" Now that's great rock and roll.

Beatles or Replacements Let It Be? Beatles Let It Be versus Rolling Stones Let It Bleed. What's the fun in that? If those are the only choices, then I'm with Kool -- Nelson. Or Hanson. Doesn't really matter.

I like Tim better than either one. Amen. Hold My Life, Bastards of Young, Waitress in the Sky, Swinging Party, Left of the Dial, Here Comes a Regular ... Westerberg was the voice of a generation. Mine, in fact.

Here's how I rank the Replacements albums that I own:
Tim Please to Meet Me Let It Be Hootenanny Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash Don't Tell a Soul
I keep eyeing Stink and All Shook Down whenever I'm at a record store, but I always seem to walk away with something else. Really tough to get caught up on back catalogues when there are so many new things (both actually new and just new to me) to catch up on. Don't Tell a Soul
