All the DVDs will have a cigarette afterwards.

Well, I'd take caution with the discs that have scratches but thankfully those are not many.

I need to rewatch Domino to see if I really like it or not. Keira Knightley is kinda annoying, plus the cinematography gave me a headache. And there wasn't enough Mickey Rourke, imo.

keira knightley is infuriating. as my housemate pointed out in the cinema seeing pride and prejuidice; "fucking hell. isn't elizabeth bennett supposed to have ample cleavage? what a rip off."

I enjoyed the shit out of Domino, even if it is a mess. Funniest scene: Brian Austin Green - in slimeball mode - gets his nose broken by Domino when he mouths off to her.

A couple of more reasons why used dvd bins are fucking ace: I've always wanted a copy of this. It can't hold a candle to The Hustler but it'll do. It's fantastically shot, written and acted, about how Fast Eddie Felson redeems himself by corrupting a golden boy. Beat that with a stick. Best scene: the pool game set to "Werewolves of London." I've got a problem with the 2nd act, in which Arnold can't muster the courage to tell his wife the truth and instead fakes an interrogation with her (in which she's stripped bare psychologically) and sends her on a mission to erotically dance in front of him in shadow (in which she's stripped bare physically). It's a little cruel instead of romantic but thankfully the 1st and 3rd acts are terrific entertainment. It's among the best modern spy films. And Jamie Lee Curtis rocks, which makes that 2nd act more bearable.

My problem with Keira Knightley is that you can tell she's acting. She tries way too hard.
I liked Domino immediately after watching it - I think the pace & the Xzibit songs had lured me into a false sense of fun. Its like after watching MTV you're almost hypnotised, Domino wa shot like a music video.
But when I think about it now...Mickey Rourke was wasted. Keira's acting was shite. The plot went a little haywire & confusing, there were racial stereotypes up the wazoo. Plus, the Domino character was so highly sexualised, but Keira Knightley really isn't that kind of woman. She's hot, but she's no match for Mikey Rourke.
And the 90210 thing, as much as I got a huge kick out of seeing 2 of my fave characters cameoing, was just strange & unnecessary.

Domino really polarizes viewers. I had that feeling the moment I heard about its pre-production. Tony Scott directing, Richard Kelly writing; it was bound to be fucked up.

I purchased a three-pack DVD yesterday...
wait for it...
Flashdance...Footloose...Pretty in Pink!
I actually owned all 3 movies already, but I had to have this 3-pack. Yes, I'm a greedy consumer, whats it to you? I'll give the other copies away.

Are the new copes any better in transfer or supplements, at least? That's usually my criteria for an upgrade.

erm...no. Its just that they all came together in a 3-pack. Really, that was my only incentive for the purchase...

I'll pretty much buy anything with a price tag on it. Thats how I got to own copies of such movies as
Benny & Joon A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon (ok, so I bought it to feed my River Phoenix fascination but still...its shit) Cruel Intentions 2 & 3 (came in a 3pack with the first...) Poison Ivy White Men Can't Jump
& so on & so forth

There's a 3rd Cruel Intentions? I shouldn't be surprised but I am.

I saw a copy of Explorers earlier today. I remembered how Phoenix tried so hard to look like a nerd. Ethan Hawke didn't have to change shit. Lazy bum.
