I really hate that slut Karen Hughes. I'm pretty sure that's her name. That bull dyke with the blonde hair. One thing that tickled my nerve last night was how they kept saying "kerry voted agaist all these weapons supports, and voted against this, and that" and this one guy said well yeah but Dick Cheney was the one that proposed those bills in the first place. She basically ignored that and rambled on about bullshit and didn't even answer the guys question. She seems like such a cocky arrogant bitch.

It was hard to listen to him when he was raving like mad man, but what I heard was baseless and bitter and amouted to nothing more then chumming the waters. Just like Arnold's "fantastic" speech...he didn't say anything. He spewed opinions as though they were fact and his facts were only half the story. So, How's this different from most speakers at either convention? Well, Zell did it while screaming like a lunatic...and then he challenged Chris MAtthews to a DUEL. A fucking duel. He pitched a big whiny baby fit because he was being asked hard questions and then said he wished he could challenge him to a duel. You simply can't justify that. Actually, he did not challenge Matthews to a duel because he was being asked hard questions. Wolf Blitzer asked him hard questions, and there was no challenge to a duel issued on CNN. He challeneged Matthews to a duel out of frustration for the way that Matthews handles guests, ranting on and on himself, and not letting them speak. Even Andrea Mitchell expressed her frustration at Matthews this week for doing just that. And as loony as what Zell did, it worked ... he's the only guy I've seen in a long time who managed to bring Matthews around from raving lunatic himself, to asking questions, and then shutting up so they could be answered.

Here's one thing I couldn't figure out from last night though ... what exactly is the appeal of George Pataki? I think this must be the first time I really watched him give a speech, but I could hardly pay attention to what he was saying. I kept on thinking "He's just like Al Gore with bad hair"

At least 100 bodies have reportedly been found in a school in southern Russia where Chechen separatists had been holding hundreds of hostages.
Heavy gunfire and loud explosions were heard throughout the morning as Russian troops stormed the school, in the town of Beslan in North Ossetia.
There is confusion as to why the Russian forces went in, as the operation seems to have been unplanned.
Hundreds of children were freed in the seizure, though some are badly injured.
Russian officials confirmed that some dead had been found inside the school, while a correspondent for the Interfax news agency put the number at more than 100.
More than 400 people were injured.

There's been no tougher approach to terrorism that than employed by Putin, and you have to wonder at the efficacy of taking it on like a war. The terrorists just raise the stakes and get more brutal.
On the other hand, how can you engage constructively with people who'd pull this sort of shit on children? Could be worse than the IRA at Enniskillen (sp.)
Guess there ain't no easy answers.

Former President Bill Clinton has checked into a New York hospital and will undergo heart bypass surgery, U.S. networks reported on Friday. ABC and CBS television reported that Clinton, 58, had checked into New York Presbyterian Hospital for quadruple heart bypass surgery.
A Democratic Party official told Reuters that Clinton had checked into the hospital with "chest pains." The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, could not confirm that Clinton would undergo bypass surgery.
CNN quoted a source close to the former president as saying the surgery could take place as early as Saturday.
Clinton, the 42nd U.S. president, promised at the Democratic convention in July to be a "foot soldier" in John Kerry's race against Republican President Bush.
i'm very shocked and concerned...
i ask that those who have conservative beliefs here do not insult the man, and treat democrats as respectfully as they behaved after reagan's passing. though i'm sure billy will come out of this one okay...

You can't JLLM. Such is the nature of terrorism. It can get ugly, but you can't appease, in my opinion.

I'd never insult former President Clinton over a serious health matter, Proud. The liberals here were very respectful when I (as well as others) wanted to remember Ronald Reagan.
Civilty can/often does, end at politic's door, but it doesn't have to end in all aspects of life. I respect your concerns.

Some post RNC thoughts...
I thought on balance that it was a great convention, and a great week. I was particularly impressed with speeches delivered by John McCain and Rudolph Giuliani. I thought Dick Cheney's was just fine. I thought President Bush gave a remarkable speech last night (at least the last half). The last half inspired me, while the first half didn't do a lot for me.
The first half didn't inspire me, because as a small government conservative, there wasn't a lot there for me to like. This is nothing new for me though, as I've taken issue with this administration many times for what I feel is excessive spending. That's one reason I find Mary's assertion that President Bush is an ultra conservative, frankly rather laughable. At any rate I was, and am, squarely in the President's corner. All that's left to do is to kick some Democratic ass in November. Let's get to it.

John Kerry's whining is getting tiresome. If he can't take the heat, he better get out of politics. This "woe is me", "stop picking on me" attitude is wearing rather thin. First he accuses everyone of attacking his patriotism, when in fact no one has (at least associated with the campaign). If attacking someone on their record is out of bounds, well he is indeed very naive.
John Kerry says he wants to talk about the issues, but he can't seem to get out of a 30 year old hole. He had a perfect opportunity at his own convention to lay out his vision, to talk about his record. In a long career in public life, involving many years and many votes, he chose to focus on a very small 4 month period of his life. Why is that John? What happened to the rest of your life, and why are you so seemingly reluctant to talk about it?

I found his whole speech cheesy and fake. His smile is not real. And his "jokes" were horrible. And who does he keep winking at?
Oh, but the fact that we're going to get another Big tax break is great. I can't wait for another 300 dollar check.

Indeed it is. We just have to make those tax cuts permanent!
