Unfortunately, I think that what we in the US are looking for is a way out of Iraq that doesn't involve admitting that we were wrong in invading in the first place. Being an American means never having to say you're sorry. At least that's the way we'd like to live. Somewhere in the bowels of Fox News, someone is already typing out a victory script for the war. After all, that is what it'll take to safe face at home: some made for TV, "we finally crushed them" action spectacular for the 6 o'clock news. All of the die hards will believe it, no one smart will buy it, and America will march on.

kMc - Drum -- thanks for your comments. Of course John was applying satirical spin to his blog about us having won -- and I do think kMc that you are most likely correct in your final analysis here, that some 'victory script' will get written up for more hypnotic airtime w/which to assuage most Americans. That said, I think the author (John Shirley) was trying to offer up anything which might work to get us outta there... Like throwin' em a bone (idea) so they can get their act together, so to speak...

Hey, now that that creep in Missouri has been officially charged with sodomizing those two little boys that he kidnapped, do you think O'Reilly will apologize for suggesting that the older one preferred being held captive to living with his parents and going to school?

No, because that would mean admitting he was wrong. Just like Fonzie and PEW, O'Reilly can't say that he's wrrrr-- mistaken.

If he was to apologize for every stupid thing he has said, he wouldn't have had time to say all the stupid thing he's said !!

Very true, Phil. Although to a lot of people, this one is may be the most offensive thing he's said.

The diaper angle certainly is the most interesting thing about that astronaut story. Although I guess the fact that they're astronauts makes it pretty nifty as well.
50 pounds seems like a whole lot of gay. I wonder what the average size of gay is.
