Another possibility is that your wife discretely threw them out because of the mustard stains.

Seriously, what was wrong with the campaign thread? It was obviously a joke, it wasn't interrupting anyone Else's discussions. It wasn't degenerating into pointless arguements...it wasn't carrying over to any other threads. So why lock it? Why take that away? You said if wanted to do stuff like that we should start a thread for it. So we did. Was it that shin was satirically challenging your authority? I don't get it.
