Well, it IS called 151.
We used to shoot 190 behind the bar I used to work at, because it was the only thing the manager didn't weigh. It is certainly, er, debilitating...

Can we all just agree once and for all that she MAY have known what 151 was, and may NOT have known? If she knew, her mother most likely would not have known it. IT's not exactly the kind of thing that a high school student comes home and says "Guess what mom? I tried this new shot tonight!!!" It is a rather irrelevant componet to the story, primarily because neither of you will EVER know whether or not she knew what it was!!!!

and I will never not believe that the chance to spend the Summer in Aruba was not appealing enough to garner some extra coverage.
Hmmm...that does make a lot of sense, doesn't it? I wouldn't put it past 'em, that's for sure.

Funny, the guys always get off in the end don't they? (no pun intended). Did it ever occur to anyone that it might be the fact that the suspects involved were actually a high ranking official and his son? And not 'just' because Natalee was white and pretty? The men don't always get off. Scott Peterson? And it was a big high profile story before a diplomat's son and the diplomat himself were identified as suspects. As Mary said, it was pretty blonde girl, whose perfect vacation was ruined when she disappeared. For a while, it looked like she may have just taken off and was not in fact killed. The press was entering into their "we have nothing to talk about time" ... and I will never not believe that the chance to spend the Summer in Aruba was not appealing enough to garner some extra coverage. I am not really denying the fact about the news coverage, I am kind of lost with this....cause I think I said something about that earlier. I am well aware of what the news is like now days, thats why I don't watch much of it. We have had this conversation before. I usually only watch and read it if there is something that really interests me, or to just keep up with the basics of what is going on in the world. I was responding to the what Lukes opinion was on Natalee, which is the name of the thread. I remember back when the OJ thing first came out, many people were suggesting the same thing about Nicole. Same thing with the Jeffery Dahmer case. All the boys were prostitutes blah blah they walked right into their fate kind of thing.. I don't know.....kind of odd imo.

I could give a crap if she knew what 151 was...I still don't know, but I'm not a drinker...I think most of the evidence points toward her making some fairly bad choices that night. Certainly that doesn't mean she deserved to get killed and doesn't mean her mother shouldn't still be very upset and try to find the killers. Luke's use of "stupid whore", if I may assume, is in reference to these poor choices and not Ms. Holloway personally. No one here, if I may assume again, is in favor of letting the killers off the hook because if any possible indiscretions on Holloway's part. In any case the main point is that there are news stories far more nationaly relivant that are being pushed aside because of this story and that may garner less sympathy and possibly even some anger from some. I know I find it frustrating when some thing like the runaway bride is given more coverage then moral bankruptcy within congress. However as Paul Weller once wrote "the public wants what the public gets".

You assume right, DED. Look, among other things, I've been trashed at four in the morning, lost, roaming the streets of New Orleans (not talking about the Quarter, but real New Orleans), not really paying attention to anything. If I'd have been killed or beaten or whatever, I'm sure everyone I know would have thought it was a shame, but even my mother would have blamed me for doing something so stupid, and probably would have lost a lot of sleep despairing over how a kid she raised could make such dumb decisions.
Every suggestion I heard about Nicole "deserving it" was either blatantly racist or misogynistic (yeah, I know...). As in, "Stupid nigger lover deserved it" or "Stupid bitch shouldn't have been sleeping around on her husband."
As for Dahmer, well, I don't think that anyone's going to argue that being a male prostitute is just the safest profession.
The difference? OJ Simpson is big news. Serial killing cannibals are big news. Those cases were never about the nobody victims, they were about the high profile criminals. This case is about the nobody victim, and there is no high profile criminal. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't feel for the victims...we should...but this just isn't news of that magnitude.
Of course, if it weren't for the OJ case, we may not be seeing ANY of this type of stuff on our TV. I don't know if Kobe or Jacko could have sunk the news to this level on their own...

BTW, DED, 151 is 151 proof liquor, as in 75.5% alcohol.

Yes that Iraq piece seems to have twice as many hits than Natalee's.
Hmmmm so Dr. Hodges thinks they drugged her, raped her, then killed her..

But hey, as long as we're comparing normal google searches to google news searches, since that somehow matters, "poop" brings up 1,650,000 returns in normal google searches, TWICE as much as the downing street memo and almost quince that of Natalee Holloway. It stands to reason then that the media is therefore talking about poop fives times as much as Natalee Holloway, right? news.google.com/news?hl=en&lr=&tab=wn&ie=UTF-8&q=poop&btnG=Search+NewsWell how about that. The media's talking about poop slightly more than a tenth of Natalee Holloway, but 50% more than the Downing Street Memo. God bless that liberal media.

Here maybe you didn't see this post, I will put it up again for you. You see shin I don't use the News as my only source of information. If I want to find out about something I will go look for it by running a regular search. But then come to think of it I don't run searches for poop either....so yeah I guess that explains it.
