I said it a long, long time ago that these two would be the candidates and that Condi would win. I know Condi said she wouldn't run, but keep in mind that that is probably a political strategy. You know, political "strategery".

Neither will run. But if they did, Hillary would clean Condi's clock. With anti-war sentiment growing every day, the one thing we can be sure of in 2008 is that the next President will NOT be one of the key players in the Bush administration.

Condi won't run. Some of the best people in politics are the ones who are sane enough to NEVER run themselves - Rice and Powell are two great examples. Hillary will only run if the polls say she will win, and I don't think she'll find polls that will say that. So the poll is a moot point. I agree with Ken that the next Republican nominee for president will not be from the current Bush administration, but I don't agree with the reasons. I think the ones who could get elected have no desire to run, and the ones who would want to run could not get elected. I firmly believe tha the next president of the United States is sitting in a governor's mansion somewhere in this country right now.

Are we in Bizarro World?
As if the President would be a black woman.

Obviously it wouldn't ... Bush would hate her, and it would make for a terrible tea reception before the innaugruation.

Even if Condi would run, which she won't, I don't think she has a snowball's chance of winning. I don't really want to vote for Hillary...but...
I read a recent poll that showed the only current GOP 2008 favorite that would beat Hillary is John McCain. Who I'd vote for too....
I agree that by the time the primaries roll around the Pubs will be making a clear effort to distance themselves from the Bush administration.

I hope it's Clark vs. McCain. I most certainly do not hope it's Hillary vs. Condi.

There are too many Republicans in office who have gotten there by alligning themselves with the Bush admin in the past 6 years. It's worked for a reason. Going into every one of those elections, non-Republicans have said "Oh, they'll have trouble because of Bush" and they've been wrong. It's time for those who don't support Bush to accept that they DO NOT understand those who do ... not to mention that those who do still exsist.

To illustrate: witness the awesome power of those who still support this war: Hundreds Rally in D.C. for U.S. TroopsClearly a political force to be reckoned with come 2006, much more so than this piddling gathering of a few balding, tie-dyed hobos and trust fund, neo-socialist college brats: Thousands protest Iraq war, globalizationIf I was a Republican candidate, I'd certainly bet my political future on the side of 400 Freeper diehards, rather than the amalgam of political voices that 100,000 represented. You dance with who brung you. Need I also mention the AWESOME MONETARY POWER of said diehards? A buck-fifty per person is nothing to sneeze at!

This brings to bear a concern I've been knocking around my head for a few days now. Is it true that every soldier is fighting for my freedom anytime he's engaged in a military action? By extent, is it always ethical to serve in the military? I ask because I was asked those questions the other day, and beyond my personal opinions, I can't speak for anyone. I proposed that no, I cannot see how the war in Iraq further secures the freedoms guaranteed me by the Constitution and no, I don't see how it is at all always ethical to serve your country in times of war. Considering we have an all volunteer army, to kill someone I don't know for shody reasons seems to me to be tantamount to murder. I am not any kind of theist, but were I inclined to that sort of thing, I'd think that Jesus would have a hard time understanding killing under orders.
