^ Seriously. It's like watching Citizen Kane.....I think it's probably the best movie of the last 25 years easily.

If you thought "Donnie Darko" was fucked up, you haven't seen nothin' yet. An incoherent, mind-boggling mess. Incredibly strange...immensely enjoyable. There's no way anyone could wrap their head around this film in one sitting.

i keep posting and it keeps deleting southland tales is one big huge mess--i hated donnie darko (ahghghghg) but i LOVE southland tales. love it. it's incredibly insane and all over the place. justin timberlake lip synching, pimps dont commit suicide, cheri oteri running people over....sigh. its so great. and i adore there will be blood. its above and beyond one of the greatest films that's come out this decade...

oh why thannnk you i just redid my website! yay. moving to boston means i get to take more crazy pictures i suppose. and we have decided we are going to the groundhog day festivities in february--so a nice viewing of groundhog day, then me chasing people and taking pictures of the media and craziness that is the groundhog day celebration. i cant wait ehehhehe. i was thinking the other day of movies that visually have influenced me as a photographer. they are.... 1. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind: if you watch the movie and imagine parts of it as actual photos rather than the movie itself, you get what im talking about. joel waking in bed, montauk, all of it. it just feels really intimate. 2. there will be blood: the oil fields on fire. the scene with his brother talking about hating people. the opening scenes with the sunlight so overpowering. it's all incredible. 3. the fountain: again with a lot of intimacy--like the close ups of izzie's neck, of course the outer space scenes, even the conquistador in the palace and in the jungle... 4. the fall: we all know tarsem has been about visuals first, story second. but even the parts that arent fantasy, ie in the hospital, are framed and composed really beautifully. esp the bed when it looks like a tent. 5. the new world: a movie i like to tell people is atmospheric. if i liked landscape, id want it to look like this. 6. sunshine/solaris: yeah, sunshine likes to pay homage a bit to previous sci fi movies. but boy is it pretty--esp how the sun is pretty much a character and affects how things are lit, the personalities of the people...and then solaris just feels so sterile in some places and very still. 7. lost in translation: this movie has convinced me i want to shoot in japan or korea. the nighttime scenes running through the streets while they're being chased, the wedding scene... there's a bunch more i love, but those are the ones i think of alot.

David Bowie. David. Bowie. Iggy Pop's terrible Stooges record has more feeling than the last three records from Madonna and that's saying something as I thought the Stooges record was pretty mediocre. How about this though: Depeche Mode still creates great songs and tours as well as the Cure. Madonna doesn't belong any where NEAR those artists. Also: Wire. Wire! I don't agree with you. I may not understand Madonna's current incarnation, but Confessions on a Dance Floor was fantastic. I would never call it the record with the most "feeling" anyone has ever made, but it surely wasn't mediocre. And I guess I have to ask: Do you dance? BTW, the song "Sorry" is one of the best songs Madonna has EVER created, period. Of course, this is coming from the kid who considers "Die Another Day" to be her greatest work, and that came from another album in the 3 you called mediocre. What do I know?

I have got to remember to rent that. Its currently suffering from the displaced memory syndrome. That is, I can never seem to recall its existence after I log off these boards -- much less recall it when I'm in the video rental store - which is not often.
Must repeat to myself: "*Southland Tales*/*Southland Tales*/*Southland Tales*"/etc...

Javiar Bardem is probably (well him and Daniel Day Lewis) one of the top ten actors of all time. He is amazing.

I am in the middle of watching Smart People and decided to pause it while I found a rusty nail to stick up my peehole.
Seriously, how can such a fun cast be in such a crap movie?

Yes, that movie truly sucks. I was suckered into watching that a couple of days ago and it is definitely a terrible film.
