Hey, bit of real trivia if you happen to go see the new Tom Cruise movie, Valkyrie. The actor Terance Stamp portrays the below charactor who happens to be a relative of my mother (her maiden name was Draudt) --- genuine tough looking SOB, huh? LUDWIG BECKAKA Ludwig August Theoder Beck Born: 29-Jun-1880 Birthplace: Biebrich, Germany Died: 20-Jul-1944 Location of death: Berlin, Germany Cause of death: Suicide Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Occupation: Military Nationality: Germany Executive summary: Supported failed coup against Hitler Military service: German Army (1898-1938) Father: Ludwig Beck Mother: Bertha DraudtLudwig August Theodor Beck (29 June 1880 – 21 July 1944) was a German general and the Chief of the General Staff of the Oberkommando des Heeres during the early years of the Nazi regime in Germany before World War II.
He was also one of the leaders of failed 20 July plot against Hitler and was designated by fellow conspirators as future Head of State (Regent) after elimination of Hitler. The plot failed, however, and Beck was forced to commit suicide.

he kinda looks like one of those nazis from the 3 stooges' wartime episodes. he's got the look alright. helluva sneer, kommandant Beck. certainly proves there's an admirable streak of intelligence running way back in your family too. christmas night (my son's present, one of them...): this is popping up on a LOT of mainstream critics' end-of-year best-ofs...deservedly! fantastic flick...and NOT in any way 'just a kids' cartoon'. i think i saw weeping up there give it a big up...

I cannot describe how bad this movie is. Particularly Justin Timberland's performance.

Got this email from my boss:
I saw a movie a few years ago, prob on IFC and prob very late at night -- it was in French, about a guy whose hot girlfriend meets another (very not hot) woman while he and she were traveling through the French countryside. The lesbian chick joined them, and they carried on this quite sexual relationship in front of the guy as their journey progressed. It sounds like a porno, but it really was very well done, even though I could only understand every 12th word or so. Ring any bells?
I swear I've seen this film too but can't think of what the hell it is ---- anybody have a clue???

I have no idea what movie it could be though so maybe it is the one after all...
Keep us informed!

Burn after Reading - Really? That's the best they coould do with all that "talent"?
Towelhead - Repetitive and slow and repetitive.
I knew I should have just stuck with The House Bunny!

I watched "Burn After Reading" last night and thought it was quite good. Not the best the Coen brothers have done, but nice and quirky. The ending could have been a little better, but most likely it makes perfect sense to someone who takes the time to view the movie on repeated occasions.
Went to the theater and watched "Benjamin Button" this afternoon. It wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be, but very engrossing nonetheless. The old man who boasts of being struck by lightning 7 times was very funny.

The House Bunny? ?? You must have a lot of expendable time. No, actually the opposite. That is why when I have few hours to enjoy a movie I want it to be good. I was being partly sarcastic about The House Bunny, but after seeing Faris in Smiley Face I could probably watch her in anything. Genius!

Have you (or anyone else) seen Smiley Face?
After Dazed and Confused that is the go-to stoner movie!
