One movie immediately pops into mind that you should never, ever bother to watch on TV or if it is edited for "improvement" in any way: Scent Of A Woman
You have GOT to hear out Pacino's every filthy word spoken. What a movie.

LMAO!
I just thought his “HooHahs” got really old, really fast.
And Patrick Swayze is so 1990!

I watch part of The Royal Tenebaums on TNT right around Christmas because I was sheerly so tired and soooo lazy that I didn't want to get up and A. find the remote or B. actually put in the DVD. And I'm always in the mood for that movie, so I watched it for a bit. The commercials put me over the edge!

Bless you, Lumen!! Well for not disappointing me...like IF you had come back saying' 'Doc, are you CRAZY? Derosier is a bloody genius and you're simply too dumb to get it!' I know that I come at dance(and most music too for that matter)from what is just my own intuitive 'feel' for what I see and/or hear...and I've my 'opinions' shot back at me more than once. I have seen/attended shitloads of dance since I had a Hubbard Street member comp me way back in the early 80s, but THAT is my background there, full stop. I've seen highly 'technical' stuff that I've 'gotten' and simply loved...and some that plain sucked either through bad conception or execution...often both. ...and I'd like to think that I know the difference, but I also can't come at it like a dancer would, obviously. So I didn't know what my(deeply felt)diatribe would bring. My wife, who now knows dance only through my insistence, that we attend shows fairly regularly (but not enough ) was also obviously thinking that 'grotesquerie' at the end messed up the film... Thanks again for the 'insiders'' confirmation of what I suspected...if only more people would understand that dance doesn't need to be elevated to some sort of ivory tower status, and that there's SO much to enjoy by simply seeing these (usually) very joyful, happy, expressive movements set to music... ...add 'witty' and 'innovative' to that line of adjectives too...

I'm also eagerly awaiting Sin City. I'm a huge fan of the graphic novels its based on and the advance buzz is that not only is it faithful to the comics (their creator co-directed the film) but that it's a rip-roaring good time on its own. Considering the huge violence and sex/nudity content of the books its based on, I wonder what Frank Miller & Co. got away with...
Friday can't get here fast enough.

Man, tell me about it Adam! I'm there tomorrow night! Been a huge Frank Miller fan for 20 yrs now -- ever since The Dark Knight Returns was first released. Best Batman hands down. Looks like Rodriguez & Co. ( special Guest Director appearance...) are bound & determined to give Chris Nolan's BATMAN BEGINS not only a run for its money -- but perhaps a plain old double-bitch-slap across the chops, to boot! SIN CITY is the real deal. What a cast! I haven't been this excited for a movie since I don't know when. And the way it kinda snuck up on us -- I'm predicting "Sleeper of the year". And thank all the gods for the blessed R -Rating. Moral America can just stay the fuck home, let us "evil" kidz see a real movie for a change. Bring on the sex, death, & carnage!
