3. Take my shoes off and throw them in the lake and I'll be two steps on the water...
You know, I can hear Kate Bush singing this line, but I'll be damned if I can remember which song for sure. I think "Hounds of Love"?
Only other one I recognise was the Joy Div which Mary already got.

Yes, so far all of you are right! It was indeed Hounds Of Love Jesus and the line out of Why'd Ya Do It? always amused me, hearing a woman sing about 'my balls in a vice...'! Carry on!

13. When silence falls and light remains, and time is born beneath the sun, I'll hide your name inside a word.... Swans- Blood Promiseawwwwwww crap. to be honest, there's probably only a few Swans songs I'd instantly recognize the lyrics from - Sex God Sex, Beautiful Child, God Damn the Sun. Usually when I'm listening to 'em, all I'm really aware of is Michael Gira's impossibly low bellowing and the ungodly doom-laden guitar "riffs" (can you really call 'em riffs?) Still, I feel like such a failure... OK, gonna think of my own quiz, I'm bored and avoiding writing a final exam... NP: The Birthday Party - Mutiny/The Bad Seed (song: Mutiny in Heaven) Cheers, M

If I didn't completely suck at actually having songs' lyrics register in my Teflon(tm) brain I might...
Tho I did know the Kate Bush that jllm grabbed...and now that 1st one of Mary's is SO familiar....I'm hearing a song in 4/4 time...like Chuck Berry...or AC / DC or someone...
Chester Burnett? Naw....

So far you're all kickin' ass.... 100% right answers....
rocdoc, #1 doesn't quite fit in the category you're trying to place it, though I suspect you probably will wanna bop yourself on the head when you hear who it is! I'm not 100% certain but I think I've heard you sing the praises of the particular album it comes from.
Phil should know #2 and #3. Rocky should get #9. And someone should really get #7..... I'm sure a whole bunch of you know the song... Doc Drum would have #6 all wrapped up, but he doesn't seem to post on this board.
Cheers, M

I do poke my nose in here occasionally but I actaully haven't posted on any of the boards for the last couple days...
No. 6 is the Mekons - "Amnesia". No. 7 is "Dear God" by XTC.
