True, it's too much of an amplification of textures. Chunks in the chili, chunks in the cottage cheese, a bit of sliminess, plus the cottage cheese would probably get warm or even hot very quickly.. not a pleasant thought.

he eats straight butter too. I have a friend ( well out of childhood) who is a butter fanatic to where I've seen her smother a good steak with it. And I mean smother! But.... that wasn't the worse. No, not near. On day at her house we're standing around her kitchen talking and she's just on "some" sort of manic high, pacing around, yakking a mile a minute. And not breaking her pace or her patter an iota, she swings past the fridge, opens the door and grabs a stick of butter, to wit' she unwraps and takes a bite out of as if it's a banana. I can't recall if she ate the entire stick...after several mouthfuls I had to turn my head.

You can put all kinds of things on baked potato but butter and sour cream is a must. It's the bare minimum. I'd say butter is secondary to sour cream. I'd say it goes 1. Butter 2. Sour Cream 3. Cheese 4. Pepper/spices 5. Bacon Beyond bacon, though, sky is the limit. Scallions, ground meat, chicken, salsa, cottage cheese. There's a reason that baked potatoes and salads are two of my favorite foods, and that's because they're the best way to put all of my other favorite foods in one meal. ... And I'd rather see someone ruin a good steak with butter than with ketchup. I will get up from the fucking table if I see you putting ketchup on a good steak. It's kind of like that King of the Hill: Bobby: "But dad, what do we do if they say they want their steak well done?" Hank: "Well, son, we ask them politely but firmly to leave."
