I wonder how many people caught the "Artist Formerly Known as Prince" reference? Crazy video. Makes me want to shoot up. Makes me want to put a spike into my vein. Then I'll tell you things aren't quite the same. When I'm rushing on my run and I feel just like Jesus' son...okay, wait. Nevermind.

Skvor...Don't ask why, I don't even know, but I am DEEP into black metal right now, especially the old school stuff (Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem, etc.). Can you give me any recommendations along those lines? Like I said, I'm more interested in the original stuff, but what I'm wanting right now is long, epic tracks, like 20 minutes a pop. I wish I could give you something for comparison but can't think of anything off the top of my head. Just really almost conceptual lengthy stuff. The more menacing the growl the better. I don't enjoy the stuff that sounds phony or contrived. Anyway, I think you get what I'm after and you, along with Thorny, are the ones I'd turn to for such discoveries.

BTW, thank you Spotify for getting me into such great music I would never have heard without you. Alcest, Les Discrets, Lustre, Blut Aus Norde, Agalloch, Long Distance Calling, Hammock, Red Sparrowes...the list goes on.

From that list I've heard Xasthur (really like his stuff), Leviathan, Emperor, Wolves in the Throne Room, Absu and Striborg. I will definitely check for the others and thanks. The dualistic push and pull of black metal with easy listening is a pleasure to experience.

These days porn makes me kind of ill...not judging it, really, but I can see through a lot of that bullshit and when you get to the bottom you can't help but find out how depraved it is. And yet every now and again I feel the need to surf over to Red Tube to see if things have changed. Just got back. They have not. Ugh.

Skvor...listened to The Crystal World and half of the new album from Locrian and I gotta tell ya you hit the nail on the head with this recommendation. I'm really looking forward to spending time with the rest of their catalog. What I listened to seemed to show more of the ambient aspect than the black metal influence (though it is definitely there). I do love it, also would like to hear something similar with just a BIT more of the dark metal in the mix.
Have you heard anything by Lustre? If not (as if you hadn't heard everything recorded in the last two decades) you should listen to "Echoes of Transcendence" from the Lost in Lustrous Night Skies EP. Something about that song chills me to the bone.
Also...what is your take on Drudkh? I am obsessed with Handful of Stars. The reviews I've read seem to be mixed, and I'm assuming it's a step in a different direction than their typical fare. I have listened to much of their earlier material and though I like it I have to admit that Handful of Stars strikes me as the best.

That One Man Metal documentary is amazing and sad, it's a powerful documentary.
I haven't heard much Lustre, need to remedy that. I haven't been able to get into a lot of Drudkh, honestly. I'll have to revisit that.

Speakin' of the Ukrainian band DRUDKH, I do happen to own this LP on vinyl Here's the first track off it, a little ditty known as "Solitary Endless Path" While "Estrangement" is not their best album, it is the only one of theirs that I happen to possess.
