Good arguments, Thorny. Go get 'em. Things aren't so good here. My minor little "don't worry about it; it'll only aggravate you from time to time" heart issue has become a major pain in the ass since just before Christmas. All the docs I've been to still swear there's nothing wrong but that hasn't stopped my friggin heart from bouncing around every few minutes. The meds they gave me have done squat. They're like "Well, lay off caffeine." I already lay off caffeine! Then they're like, "Well, here's some Xanax. Calm your hypochondriacal ass down." And I am under no more stress than normal. (But the Xanax is nice; I appreciate the Xanax.) It's kinda done like this before, but it went away after a day or two. This has hung on for three weeks. Three weeks today, actually. And I might have been under a bit more stress because of holiday madness, but the freakin' holidays are over. I'm ready for this crap to subside. It's hard to function like this and it's really easy to get depressed about it. But, I'll stop whining now, I guess. It seems you had a good vacation, Thorny, and I'm glad!

Yes I did . . . very good for clearin out my head. \m/ I'm single again \m/ *I'm sooo sorry* to hear about your problem the last 3 weeks *BIG HUG* . . . I'd think it should calm itself down soon. Hang in there, y'hear? *another hug* You'll be 'aight. I just went thru the ringer w/my last gf. Talk about a match NOT made in heaven. . . I tried so hard, hung in there so doggedly . . . shoulda known better. Well such is life, am I right? Just trying to get the taste outta my mouth right now. Need some serious alone time. Tonight is the first open mic poetry reading going on in MY neighborhood coffe house, "2 Creeks Cafe", so I'm psyched about that. I see a bright future ahead. I'm tentatively looking into acquiring a RadTech certification degree... so I can work as a full-time MRI Tech. There are some stumbling blocks. . . a 3 yr waiting list, for one. I'll be looking futher into it. Right now I'm trying to focus on kickstarting my writing career. Just got the latest HORROR GARAGE magazine . . . I know I can contribute something of that caliber. Over my vacation I actually got to hang out with and meet Mehitobel Wilson, this new up&coming horror writer. She is hott. And cool. goto www.dangerousred.com to see her site. I found a copy of her book of short stories, entitled Dangerous Red, on Amazon.com, and get this: it was signed! See, how I got to meet her is kinda cool. My Mom met her at a funeral of a quasi-relative; my Mom's sister, who was my Aunt Pam (may she rest in peace) was once married to my uncle Wayne. Well they've been divorced for years. Wayne has a new girl friend. HER niece is Mehitobel Wilson! When my Mom met Mehitobel at the funeral service, and discovered she was a horror writer, well you can figure out the rest, those matchmaker gears started turnin' in her head, and she sent me Mehitobel's website addy, told me I should shoot her an email. Mehitobel lives in Savannah. Well I never did, cuz what was I going to say? But when I heard she was in town during my vacation, I urged my uncle Wayne to set it up so I could meet her. And he did! Anyhow, the main point of all this, is that by having met her and hung out for a couple hours, shooting pool, (she wore an oldschool AC/DC T-shirt, and was a totally rad, cool chick, I was smitten), the point is that Mehitobel is a reminder to me that I need to get off the stick, and start churnin out some stories, get my name out there, so that in a few years, I can get some small house publisher to publish a collection of my stories! Speaking of, how's your writing going - ?

Writing? What's that? ;D
Congrats on your new single status! And for getting yer ass in gear on your writing. I wish I could. This was *supposed* to be a relaxing month off from school -- even took that week-and-a-half off from work to try to get some "me" time so maybe I could do some writing and other stuff I've been meaning to do... and it turned into a medical hell as referenced above. Now school starts back up Tuesday and I'm taking a couple of classes that I hear are killers. So any chances of me doing writing that isn't school-related probably just went up in smoke.
And I said I wasn't stressed. What the hell was I thinking? I hear my Xanax calling... (j/k)

Heh, I'm just glad they gave you something that at least works a little bit. And yeah, I'm worried about whether I should a)pursue the RadTech degree b)focus instead on working toward my publishing status as a writer c)try both?
The reason this is a serious decision, is because a)I'm happy w/my job & wage as it stands now
So the deal is, I don't want to *derail* my chances at succeeding in getting a bunch of stories out there, that'll take a lot of work, and if I try and ALSO go for a RadTech certification, well it might just mean to *put off* my newfound writing resolution until 2010, or so. And I just don't know if that's *right* for me, know'm say'n?
The thing is. . . BOTH options are just at my fingertips . . . do I try and stack my plate up w/each -? Or do I deny the opportunity to secure a more lucrative job (MRI tech) in favor of focusing solely on getting my writing out there?
It's a real tough call....

You mentioned a 3 year waiting list -- how does that work: is that a waiting list before you can even start the degree program, or 3 years before you can get certified *after* starting the program, or what? Because if you're going to have to wait that long anyway to start school, I'd say get your name on the list just in case and then get cracking at writing. If your writing takes off, you might not even need to become a RadTech! But if it comes down to working, going to school, *and* writing, I think you could pull it off. The reason *I* can't is because I have a kid who has more homework than I do. By the time I'm finished with my work, it's time to help him with his. He also has this annoying habit of needing to eat every night, too. There's just too much to do and not enough hours in the day for me.

I'm still trying to figure that out. I'm dealing with some other stupid shit right now . . . but I'll know the answer to that question soon enuff, and I'll report back. I think it's a 3 yr waiting list to get hired onto the University HOspital staff, and I think that if you take the "Hospital Program", (which I would want to do, for discounts & privileges), then you're contractually obligated to work *here* for an X-amount of years, and I believe that is where the waiting list starts . . . . something along those lines. I'll get the exact details worked out here by the end of the week.

From what I understand the trailer is supposed to premiere in theaters today with Underworld. I am so there. I just have to see it on the big screen. Oh, yeah, and I kinda want to see Underworld too; I enjoyed the first one.
YAY!!!!
That's cool about the Vegas show, Thorny! I might not get to see them till the 2nd leg of their tour, but at least I have SILENT FRIKKIN' HILL to look forward to in April!
Off to watch the trailer over and over and over again, pick it to pieces, etc... ;D
