Korn singer on the road to recovery

Korn singer Jonathan Davis told Billboard.com yesterday (Tuesday, June 20th) that he's recovering from his recent blood infection but is anxious to get back on the road. Davis said, "I feel good but I feel like I want to jump out of my skin." The singer is currently resting at home in Los Angeles and will remain there until the band begins its headlining stint on the Family Values tour in late July. Davis was hospitalized earlier this month in London when a blood disorder sent his platelet count plummeting to dangerously low levels that could have been fatal. Korn was forced to scrap its European tour while Davis underwent treatment.

The vocalist said that he has responded very well to treatment for the rare disease, called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). Davis explained, "Kids get and it goes away, but adults get it and it doesn't. But the way I'm responding, going from five platelets to 350 in seven days -- people sit in the hospital for months and months trying to do that."

Just before Korn canceled its tour, the band played without Davis at England's Download Festival, utilizing guest vocalists from Avenged Sevenfold, 10 Years, Stone Sour and other acts. Davis said, "They didn't want to do it. But (the band) went out and found all the singers and they did it. I saw some video and it was pretty funny. The singers did the best they could do."

Davis concluded by saying that his battle with the disease was "one of the scariest times" in his life, and would likely find its way into a future Korn song.

Korn will be joined by Deftones, Stone Sour, Flyleaf and other acts on the Family Values tour, which begins on July 27th in Virginia Beach.
