Thankee verra much! And now, a bit o' news from the world of Korn... BEVERLY HILLS, California — Jonathan Davis recently did two things that no fan would ever expect: talk politics and thank God, all in a matter of minutes. The latter surprise came with an update on the health of the Korn singer, who was diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura last month and was forced to cancel the band's remaining European tour dates. "Thank God that someone's looking out for me from up there and I'm still here," Davis said. "Now I want to get on the road bad, just go be with my fans. I mean, that's what gives me strength to begin with." ITP is a rare immune disease in which the body attacks its own platelets, essentially fighting itself, Davis explained. He's being treated with special steroids, which seem to be working. "My platelets went from [the dangerously low] five to 390-something in six days, so they've been tapering me off [medication] now and watching my levels," Davis said. "Hopefully this thing is a fluke and it can be controlled. So I'll be fine. Very scary though. Doctors said, 'Dude, you could have died easily onstage' because of the way I go off and everything. If you have no blood platelets, your blood doesn't clot, and that [compromises] the integrity of your veins. So I could've popped one in the head. I'd have a stroke, and see ya." Now that he's feeling healthy again, Davis and Korn are rehearsing for their headlining slot on the Family Values Tour, which kicks off July 27 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The band has also been putting together video ideas for See You on the Other Side's third single, "Politics." Which, of course, brings us to why Davis is tackling the subject. "It's just about how I don't like to talk about politics," Davis said of the single, which narrowly beat out "Love Song." "I mean there's politics in everything, and it's not necessarily governmental politics. There's who's going to sleep with whom to get ahead, who's going to do this to get that. ... I see it in the church, everyday life, government. That's what I'm talking about, not about the stupid crap that's going on with guys in suits and their views and their lobbies and their this and their that." Davis has spoken out in support of U.S. troops in the Middle East, and Korn even treated some to a special show (see "Korn Capture In-Flight Gig, Massive New York Show On 'Live' DVD"). But the frontman says that's about as far as he'll delve into politics — though, for a guy who isn't interested in the topic, he certainly has a lot to say about it. "Korn has never been a real political band," Davis explained. "I'm political to a point where it affects human life, from global warming to abortion issues to my gun rights, stuff like that. Those are the kind of politics that I care about. The other BS with taxes or who's going to be ahead [in elections], I don't really care. Obviously even going out and voting doesn't really count, it's all based down to these Electoral College votes. What the hell can I do? It's a sham. "I just wait for this president to get out of the office, and hopefully we can find someone that can do a better job. But what do we really know? Maybe he is doing the right thing, you don't know. We are all so clouded with what goes on. You understand if we didn't have oil, the United States of America would cease to exist and we'd all die? If you really think about it, oil is what keeps us all going, gets us our medicine, gets us our food, gets us every single thing." For the "Politics" video, Davis would only say the band plans to "do something cool" that focuses on what regular people think, "not all these lobbyists or the government that supposedly is representing what we're feeling."

I particularly like this quote: "But what do we really know? Maybe he is doing the right thing, you don't know. We are all so clouded with what goes on." He is right on about that.
It's cool you're actually going to see this FV tour, Lady. Maybe if it comes somewhere w/in 500 miles of here (Denver/Vegas), I could check it out. I wish it would just swing through Salt Lake dammit.

Too bad. But I think it is going through Denver *and* Vegas. You should go to one of them.
Yeah, I can't wait for Aug 5; probably the last fun thing I get to do before school starts and it's back to the grind.

Yeah in my opinion, what makes a band like KoRn so cool is that they are no different than the kidz/audience they are playing for. That is what I call "down to earth". I'm sure there are plenty of bands like that - esp younger ones - KoRn just happens to be one of them (who went & grew up).
Although, it seems to me, that seldom do you see a band that blows up as big as korn did 8 or 9 years ago - & yet still retain that humbleness, that feeling that they are still "one of us".
Just cuz you see Fieldy or someone like that on MTV Cribs, that don't mean they've let fame/fortune get to their heads. It just means they hit the jackpot - & rolled w/it.
I'm really excited about this, KoRn's 2nd Era -- the "Other Side" w/out Headly -- where we can experience the 4 remaining Horsemen doing what they love best - - playing music for their fans, where "The Wall" that can be built up between artist & audience, in fact - simply does not exist.
In my view of the rock dynamic, KoRn is the band which "Tore Down The Wall".

Yeah, although I'm not wild into remiXes -- I do own nearly every KoRn remix there is (and enjoy 70% of them). So the remiXes on this thing have my curiosity up: hopefully at least a few of em will deliver tha goodz.
Not sure just why there are 2 "getting off"s in a row on the (presumably) 'studio' disc - - and not sure just wtf those songs are being re-released for anyhow (*are* they studio versions? Re-done studio versions? Or is disc one also live .. . ??)
The live versions of instant classics such as "love song" and "hypocrites" will be sweet to check out. Cool to see that last "bonus material" for dvd . . . so yeah, although it seems like a "mixed bag" at best. . . . as a die-hard, I ain't complainin' . . .

Ok, so Chopped, Screwed, Live & Unglued is the WORST PIECE OF GARBAGE I have ever had the unfortunate luck to stumble across . . . I can't believe I forked over the $26 for this abject, rehashed drivel. Disc 1: Ok, so I was wondering if these songs were the same studio versions that appear on the album, or what. Answer: NO. They are the creatively dead, horrifically bad, utterly worst-of-the-lot *REMIX PRODUCT* of one "DJ MIKE WATT" (may you burn in hell for the rest of eternity, you total degenerate). ~ Twisted Transistor has been butchered beyond belief, mainly cuz it has been S*L*O*W*E*D DOWN to a PATHETIC, drugged-out parody of the original song's intent. GONE is the liveliness; you can actually hear Jon's vocals s-l-o-w-e-d down to a crawling, low pitch that m a k e s your e a r s d--r--a--g like you've just OD'd on v-a-l-i-u-m-s, I mean, I'm not kidding here, but it becomes obvious after painfully tolerating half of the track, *that it ain't gunna stop*, that it's S-L-O-Wed down to an unbearably horrid pace for the entirety of the track, and I *pushed SKIP* ~And then HYPOCRITES was the exact same thing ! ! Fucking HORRID ! To hear Jonathan's voice dragging like a retarded ape on a cocktail of steroids & downers is UNBEARABLE. And every fuckin' ten seconds you hear cutting in " DJ MIKE WATTS! wickwick DJ MIKE WATTS! wackwack", ohmygod - - Adam - - LADY !! - - I was MORTIFIED. I immediately hit the STOP button and had to suppress a rage that dearly wanted to SMASH! that disc, and you better believe - - I don't even wanna check out the rest of it . . . *shudders in horror* So then - - I'm like, well, the 2nd LIVE DISC might be pretty kickass, right? And the bonus DVD is probably worthy, so if that's the case, then "2 outta 3 ain't bad", am I right -? *I put in Disc 2 and wouldn't you know it, but . . . . * I'm being serious, here. These live songs sounded utterly horrible, just pathetic attempts at playing out these songs (which sounded so rad when I caught em live in Vegas!) - An absolute mockery of 'hypocrites' - - it is NOT KORN!! I stood there, jaw dropped in revulsion as the rancid guitar notes & Jon's scorched, broken vocals at least tried to do halfway justice to a killer song - -but the chorus was not only sung weakly, but my friend & I listening - -we could have sworn it wasn't even sung by Jon ! Like one of the backup dudes shouted out the chorus ! *Never again will I subject myself to this garbage* ~ So I figure, ok, at least they'll do a decent version of "Somebody, Someone", right -? (It being an old tune and all) Guess what. You wanna know what it sounded like? It sounded exactly as if we were listening to koRn on ONE CHANNEL, you know how FLAT and empty that sounds -? Well that's what we soon realized they sounded like. AS IN: WE WERE LISTENING TO "KORN WITHOUT HEAD"!!!!!! Ohmigod, but if Sir Headly checks this piece of shit out, I don't know if he'd LOL or break down cryin ! *For the first time since he left, I was caught realizing they sounded completely unlike the REAL KORN, and instead, like a pathetic attempt at maintaining relevance* I noticed the next song was 'Throw Me Away', and you wanna know what I did then, fukkers? *I ran to the stereo and stopped this nonsense because I couldn't take it anymore*! Especially considering the dire poetic insinuation behind that song's title: ( Couldn't help but think that indeed, I may just want to take Jonathan up on that little bit of advice) Hell: I had to restrain myself from DESTROYING this cheap product and throwing it away into the trash. And check this: By that point, I had lost ALL desire to even check out the dvd!!! The last thing I wanted just then, was to have it repeatedly driven into my ears & eyes, just how much koRn has suffered from the loss of their once-true, beloved brethren & axe-mate, the great, lamented BRIAN HEAD WELCH. I could only cringe at the thought of having to endure those "AOL Acoustic Sessions", thinking only that- - how horrible might those songs come across, now. I'm too freaked out right now to know what else to say. . . I still love this band (of course), but if this bonus, BOGUS product is an indication of where they're at. . . .I'm afraid to have to say it, but this could be IT for korn. I seriously doubt they can survive without Brian there to balance out Munky. I go cry now

Thorny, you do realize that's what "chopped & screwed" music is, don't you? That it's slowed waaaay way down? It's a rap movement that started in Houston a while back and has gradually become more popular. I've heard it because a friend of mine dates a guy who listens to it, and my first thought was indeed DAMN; you have to be on drugs to enjoy this. It sounds like a dragging cassette tape. But I was curious to hear a screwed Korn remix. Still am.
