Strat, I think you need to relax and take a few days off and just smell the sea breeze. If you're nowhere near the coast, just buy some seaweed and cheap fish foods (e.g. salmon trimmings), and stick 'em in a jar of salted water. Leave in the sun, on a window-ledge for about 6 hours, then set a small fan over to waft the ensuing scents across your airy spaces.
To add a little visual authenticity you could add a broken sea shell (razor clam is a personal favourite), half a dried dog turd, a bit of sand, and some shards of broken glass, half-submerged, as though awaiting the delicate foot-soles of passing children.
I hate writing sentimental stuff like this. But yeah, crack open a Bud and chill. To be fair. Then I'd say by Wednesday you'll be fit and ready for action. You need to get back on the horse, big fella. But sometimes the horse needs a quick, soothing reach around to avoid bucking you right off. Metaphorically. I guess you know what I mean.

Nobody's hiding, strat. Bully for you that want to let anyone read this and maybe be a member but you should respect that other sites might want more privacy. Also for the fact that sedaka members rarely actually bring up sedaka here, as much as it comes up that's pretty hard to believe. There just seem to be a few people here who just can't seem to get past it regardless of how much they claim not to care. You don't like shin? Ban him. Quite whining and ban him. Ban me if you want too. I think its a bit disingenous to say that the Sedaka site "wants" more privacy, or that Sedaka members rarely bring Sedaka up here. In this particular incident, Sedaka was brought into it ENTIRELY because of Sedaka members. Strat did something, and he was proud enough of it to share it with Castaways members. Kenny chose to insert Sedaka all over it. That is a Sedaka member begging for attention for the "private" community of Sedaka. Jac's satire was dead on right. You can make all the claims you want about privacy, bu the truth is that Sedaka members DO bring those boards up on these ones, and they also take every single opportunity made available to respond to any reference made by non-Sedaka members.

This argument is going to go absolutely nowhere.

Has there ever been an argument around here that went anywhere?

Has there ever been an argument around here that went anywhere? Yeah, I seem to recall engaging in an argument that drove Art & Topdog away from the boards... Some scolded me... Many more thanked me! j/k, of course. Those guys left of their own free will. I bet they don't even miss me.

Can't say I know Topdog, but I think I remember Art. Did he go by names like Art-Knocker, Art...er, I can't think of anything else, but he had several variants that all began with Art, iirc. I think the last time I spoke to him was like in 2001.

I think the last time I spoke to him was like in 2001. Yeah, that was THE Art...kinda looked like Stephen King in his RS.com profile picture. I think Topdog came along after you went on hiatus. She intitially began posting as Goddess of Rock Topdog. That moniker was eventually shortened to Topdog, and a lot of folks called her "Topsy". I actually got to meet her and she seemed nice enough. That didn't stop me from engaging in many heated flame wars with her (some initiated by me, some by her, but who cares anymore, eh?), and she found an ally in Art. Art and Topsy eventually met each other, embarked upon a relationship that culminated in marriage. Every year on their anniversary I get a letter from Topsy thanking me for my small part in getting them together. Okay, that last sentence was a sack of bullshit. Now you know.

This whole crazy mess has nothing to do with Castaways or the Sedaka boards. It's quite simply a (very) few people* are really pissed because Strat refused to allow them to destroy Castaways early up. If they can't fuck up the Castaways boards in one way, then they're bound and determined to fuck it up for Strat any way they can. It's Strat they're after, not Castaways as a whole. Insults and numerous other derogitory and negative remarks and actions are included in their goal of making Strat's board life miserable. They could care less if it ruins it for others. All I can say to those people is "get a life."
I find it quite comical that these (very few) people feel the need to do this. It certainly shows their immaturity. I don't think anyone at Castaways would want these people to stop posting here, but I do believe everyone would like to see the bullshit stop. There are more than one of these types of message boards, and each has their own rules for their own reasons. I don't feel that showing a little respect for the people at whichever board one is posting is too much to ask of anyone.
Keeping up this crap is a lose/lose situation. As for me, this is the end of conversation. I'm off to the salt mines. Have a good day, everybody.
*Does not include all members of Sedaka.

JAC - Yeah, I liked Art and remember him being nothing but a good-natured guy, but I think that was before things turned ugly at rs.com (if what I hear from others is correct). I've seen some backlogs of some of the arguments that he was involved in here, and he seemed like a totally different person, which was kind of sad.
