Well Punk Chick, I hope you have a chance to hear the earlier (far superior) version of The Prettiest Star. The AS version is sort of played for laughs, while the original single take was a more sincere ballad. Rono cribbed Bolan's guitar work (or maybe Bolan cribbed Rono's notes, I'm honestly not sure), so that part is similar in each, but there's none of the annoying "wop-wop" vocals, etc. It's just a much, MUCH better reading of the song. The AS version doesn't register on my list of Bowie faves, but the single is probably one of my ten or so all-time favorites from the Thin White Ziggy.

Yeah punkchick, The Killing Moon is such a striking song, I remember falling in love with it the very first time I heard it. I'm glad you liked that one - if so, it would definitely be worth your while to pick up Ocean Rain, the Echo and the Bunnymen album which features that song. The whole vibe of the album is very Killing Moon-esque, though it's certainly the highlight. But there's tons of other songs with a similar dark, swirling, neo-psychedelic sound and sweeping epic quality. Highly recommended! (except for that awful "c-c-c-cauliflower!" track 5... bleh!!!)
Cheers, M

Wow Mary... I was gonna offer to do you up a CanCon disc or two - but I don't think there's any way I can complete with Doc Drum's 4-disc masterpiece! Especially seeing as he owns about every album ever made...

Mary, I'd like to thank you for the tape mix that got swallowed by the UK postal system, and which I never got to hear Btw, I have what I consider to be the definitive 74 minute mix of British Goth & Indie 1984 - 1989 on my hard drive, so in the unlikely even that anyone wants a copy, just let me know.

Jesus - I want one!! I'll make you one too, but of course it won't be half so classy as I'm sure yours will be. If you saw my list of "new music" I've suddenly got access to and want any of it, lemme know.
Oh, I've got a Von Bondies album I don't want if anybody wants to trade for that.

I'm thinking that's just a tasteful way of saying "I don't want your awful music!" Address forthcoming.
