Nope, never thought of you as having an accent. Someone like Phil, definitely (as much as he vehemently denies it), but you? No.
Don't know why.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you been here for over 10 years already?
Dollars to donuts that the accent's going to um, 'continue' indefinitely...well, just to get the chicks of course. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Oh, I have. My accent is nowhere near what it was when I moved here, but it's still detectable.
I most certainly don't play it up, though.

Doc ~ I probably have less accent than you ... ! !Only when I'm speaking Lithuanian. ~ Vehemently, see? It's in the way you write. It HAS to be since I sure as heck haven't ever heard you...and they could be simple typos (yeah, as though I don't make any ) but by often using plurals incorrectly (both the 's' endings and tooth/teeth/tooths-type of things) and dropping articles the way I hear LOTS of foreign-speakers talk. 'Writing' generally will still be pretty close to 'speaking'. But that's all cool. Like I said, just my impression from the way I've seen you write over these years...

It's weird though, when comparing Phil's posts to yours rocdoc, it's Phil that comes off as having a firm grasp on the English language, and not you rocdoc. At the very least his posts contain minor grammatical errors while yours completely refuse to adhere to common sentence structure and coherent thought.

For the record, I've never had a bit of trouble understanding Phil.

You can always count on 'Someone' to drop in to spread a little sunshine! Where did Doc impugn Phil's "grasp of the English language"? He just made an observation. I don't think it was intended as a slight. I've noticed the same thing. So what? Big deal. My hat is off to anybody who is fluently bi- or multi-lingual. What's wrong with having an accent anyway? They add character and color to language. Language would be much less interesting without them.

I'll second that eye-roll. Jesus that post was fucking pointless.

Someone's post being the "pointless" one that is, just to avoid any misunderstandings.

I don't know, it didn't seem any more pointless than RocDoc nitpicking Phil's grammar. To each his own though, I guess.

I don't mean to speak for Rocdoc, but I don't think he was attempting to nitpick Phil's grammar; I think he was (good naturedly?) ribbing him about claiming to not have any accent. If I had to try to learn all the intricacies of French punctuation, grammar, and usage, I think I'd jump off a cliff.

Someone's post was outright mean-spirited. I'm just not seeing that in what RocDoc said to Phil, given the context.

I mean fuck, I'm not a native English speaker either, so I wouldn't have been offended if some poster (I wish "someone" had chosen another username, so that I could use that word without worrying about it being confused with him/her) had pointed out that my English isn't perfect. And knowing how laid back Phil is, I doubt that he was too offended either.
