My aim actually was to get you to extend your compliment beyond my English. Like how nice my fart smells, or how tasty my toes are.
Kool: Just out of curiosity (this question should probably go in the bilingual thread, but oh well), what situations led you to study Greek? Do/did you live there?

I don't know, it didn't seem any more pointless than RocDoc nitpicking Phil's grammar. To each his own though, I guess.
Two points that I make that I've SEEN Phil do over and over and that's a 'nitpick'? I honestly do not give a rat's ass that he does it (write with the consistent let's say, eccentricities that he uses), but he does...and that's where this perceived doubt of mine comes when he states that 'People have told me that my American accent is perfect'....I mean I know when people are blowing smoke up my ass when they tell me that when I'm speaking Lithuanian that they'd never take me for an American.
I never claimed to be nice. rocdoc is a douche and pretending that any part of his post was good natured is giving him way too much credit.
Nope not a trace of 'nice' in this hateful hellion. Doubling as a fucking English perfesser to boot, hah.
A stone pretender with insecurities as wide as the day is long.
Quick 'someone'!!! Is that simile or is that metaphor??!

For the record, I do have an accent when I speak english ... I've been told it was strange for a canadian to have an american accent ! That's what happens when you watch american TV instead of canadian programming ... If anyone's interested, PM me your phone number and I'll drop you a call ...

ôôps ! Previous post was written before I saw RocDoc's last post !
I have never said that 'People have told me that my American accent is perfect'....
Only that people tells me I do have an american accent ...
As far as I'm concerned, I've never even knew there was a difference between a "standard" american or canadian accent ...

There was an exchange student from New Zealand when I was in high school, but I don't remember ever having any trouble with his English. He understood Japanese, so we used to communicate in a funny way, with him speaking to me in English, and me replying in Japanese.
The one time when I really panicked was when I phoned one of our British contacts at work, and the receptionist had this really thick, heavy accent that completely threw me off. I don't know what forsaken region of Britain she was from, but I literally had no clue what she was saying. I told myself to calm down, which I did, and then I got the hang of her speech and somehow managed to communicate with her. Fortunately, she was just the receptionist and the person she connected me to spoke clean, British English which I could understand perfectly.
I guess it's because I grew up in the US that I struggle with British regional accents. I think I can handle most American regional accents, though I suppose I could always be proven wrong.

It could be because of my history with doc but I also thought he was being critical rather then the gentle ribbing everyone else saw and yeah I thought it was a little odd the only guy here who I ever have trouble working out some of his sentences would be critical of someone else's writing. I know I know it's just the sedaka clique ganging up on rocdoc again. Whatever. I'm just being honest.
