Figured I'd open a new thread dedicated to the GOINGS ON in your area, that you might wanna give a SHOUT OUT for.
For instance: Here in Salt Lake City, there's a TON of shit goin on this weekend !
~TONIGHT, right here at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (an affiliate & part of the complex where I work), the couple & their son who raised DOOMS, the cheetah featured in Carroll Ballard's movie DUMA, are actually presenting the movie and featuring a Q&A after the show ! It begins @ 6:30, and lemme tell ya. . .although I hadn't planned on it, I think I might attend. I'd dearly love to meet the kid who lived w/Dooms, and let him know about the 2 ocelots I used to own myself, as a wee laddie living in Honduras in the late 60s & early 70s.
~opening this weekend:
LADY IN THE WATER and
CLERKS II
~playing this weekend:
...JOAN JETT, on Saturday at the Warped tour
...HOT TUNA, on Sunday at Red Butte Garden
...DRESDEN DOLLS, opening for someone on MOnday (In the Venue)
But also TONIGHT:
~continued SLAM COMPETITION, at Cup o' Joes, and then
~the FINALS on SUNDAY, at Sam Weller's Bookstore

I think I'll check out DUMA @ 6:30, meet & hang w/Dooms's family, (*I wonder if they'll bring their new cheetah??*, god I hope so), and then head straightaway for Cup 'o Joes to lend support to Zoey, Repo, Brian, Jim, and Flora. Hey if there's an open mic I'll step up in the know w/my flow and lend my voice to the show.
Ok I think that about covers it. Looks like there's a lot to do for this Pioneer Weekend here out west.
