Going a bit further back here....
Pere Ubu- Dub Housing
Working in a music store can dull the senses, especially if a large part of your colleagues are so difficult to ween from their habitual listens. Imagine my surprise when I popped in this classic in my stereo before I went to place some orders and have one colleague asking me what I was playing and if he could have the disc afterwards.... Ah, that's why I love working in a music shop! And that while at first I just couldn't get Pere Ubu. It's still an uncomfortable listen. It scratches. It squeaks. It's pre-punk pretentious madness. And in a decade where all these qualities are so underdone it sounded like a refreshing album, if you know what I mean. They don't make albums like this anymore. There's no David Thomas these days who bellows his intentions straight into your skull. I have a feeling that if this album was released today Pitchfork would be creaming their jeans in superlatives to describe this release. I still don't get the album but hell, it was good to hear it.

Talk about revisiting old cds.......I recently bought the 3 most important cds of my youth;
The Beatles '65 Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman Neil Young - After The Gold Rush
I had not listenend to any of them in 30+ years. They sound great to me today and take me back in time.

I bought my first cd in 1985. My first 45 would probably be '76 as well. First LP was '77.

Here is an old CD I would truly love to revisit someday (having lost my original copy long ago):

45 now there’s something I haven’t heard said in ages! My first was The Stones……… A side Brown Sugar B side Wild Horses. Played the shit out of it on one of those little players that looked like a small hard side suitcase. I was 10 or just turned 11.
Preferred Brown Sugar & I still have a soft spot for that tune. Despite the constant dissection of its lyrics.

My first was The Stones……… A side Brown Sugar B side Wild Horses. They must have released a different 45 in Canada. "Brown Sugar" was one of my first 45s, too, but the b-side was "Bitch" on my copy. I think they might have released "Wild Horses" as an A-side in the States after "Brown Sugar". Believe it or not, the first 45 rpm record that I ever purchased with my own money (as opposed to having them given to me) was by the Carpenters.

I purchased my first cd in 1992 after receiving my first cd player for my birthday. I should've picked another title, in retrospect. Actually, Michael Kamen's score is terrific but I could've done without that fucking Ryan Adams song.
