Last night I listened to Tracy Bonham's "The Burden of Being Upright". What a freaking pump-you-up, sing-along cd. Love her! Then I tried to listen to Fiona's "When The Pawn...", but my player wouldn't have it. Great cd by the way. For being so young, she is a wonderful and funny lyricist. So then I listened to Tori Amos's "Scarletts Walk", the woman does no wrong, I am sorry. And since I was in the beginning of the alphabet (yea, I alphabetize, so what) I actually stuck in Nick Cave and man oh man, I liked it better than the first (and only) time I ever listened to it, but that cd could be a soundtrack to any Lynch movie. That must be why Blaney has such the bone she does for that guy.

Someone burned us a Blue Man Group DVD of a big arena tour they did a few years back and it was VERY entertaining since they played into the 'this-is-a-rock-concert' idea.....and Tracy Bonham was one of their guest singers...and was actually very good.
She even wore a neon dress that matched the rest of the stage decor...showed a pretty good sense of humor, which I'd guess HAS to be a prerequisite for performing with Blue Man...

Amp is that Bonham's debut? I used to own that one, still might, but I always kinda liked her voice. Can't remember titles, but the second single was better than the first ("The One" vs. "Mother" maybe?).
Think I'll have a dig later tonight, but something tells me I sold it.
Do you like Juliana Hatfield?

I LOVE Julianna Hatfield, everybody should. I have heard rumblings that she has a band, but the name escapes me now. Haven't really kept up with her, what with the impending marriage to Liz and all, been kinda busy.
And yes, that was Bonhams debut disc. And "The One" is a great track, but I really like the entire thing.
Had no time to listen to anything today other than "Americas Sweetheart" while working out, and "I, Bificus" in the car.
I also realized that I should have started this thread on New Music Threads, or whatever thats called. I apologize Jackory, and feel free to move it if you know how.

That's cool Amp. I'll try to track down some of that stuff, including Some Girls. I lost track of Hatfield a little while ago. Once in a while, she seemed a bit unsure on what type of music she wanted to make, but I kind of liked that. Become What You Are is probably my fave. I think I'll revisit that old CD today actually

I have a sixth sense for detecting Juliana Hatfield conversation.
I think it's no secret that I love love love her - from the Blake Babies to Some Girls and all the solo stuff in between. And Riley, I'm with you on BWYA - it's always been my favourite.
I don't think I've been disappointed in anything of hers yet, really - except maybe that photo on the cover of Bed, but that's a whole different story. I wasn't really big on Total System Failure, but maybe it's time to revisit that too... whenever I go to her, it's usually the early stuff.
As for Some Girls - I'd recommend it to fans of hers. Nothing earth-shattering or revolutionary, but definitely worthwhile. Fun stuff. I got it for Christmas... and actually, it's been awhile since I listened. I'll have to get back to that this weekend.

Revisiting Trick of the Tail by Genesis this afternoon as i sit here by my computer, I forgot how lovely this album sounds, and how much of a good cross section of their music at the time it was. Surely, it doesn't push the boundaries for them in any way, but when you consider that they just lost their enigmatic frontman in Peter Gabriel, this album just completely makes sense, and sounds like a darn effort to boot.

The one with the naked chicks is THE DEFINITIVE JANE'S ADDICTION.
It is mandatory, pure & simple.

Last night I listened to Tracy Bonham's "The Burden of Being Upright". What a freaking pump-you-up, sing-along cd. . Hardly. I made the mistake of buying that CD cause I kinda liked that 'Mother Mother' tune. Other than that, that record is just bland. Not to mention her voice becomes irritating after several listens. All the songs sound the same too. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree here. Scarlet's Walk is bland compared to her first 4 albums. I've made a compilation CD which I often listen to with tracks only from those 4 cds (and 'Sugar' from 'Venus'). IMO 'Scarlet's Walk' was Tori's first full album without any memorable tunes on it. I've listened to it countless times but there's not 1 song on it which sticks with me. I haven't even bothered with her latest 'Beekeeper'. From what I've heard of the album, and from other fans it's probably her lowest inspirational point so far... so I'm skipping it, unless I can find for a couple of bucks somewhere, and then I'll think about buying it. Nick Cave rules and is one of a kind... so I actually agree with ya here. :-)
