well, you could make a CE main board and sticky it, while still allowing for other threads. that way, chrisfan, you only have to look at the top one and not bother with the others while allowing the freedom for other conversations to go on unshackled by a 100 page superthread. otherwise, welcome to modern day webboarding. honestly, wouldn't this make everyone happy?

Face it...noone has been using the ProBoards in the manner they are normally used. But there's no reason why people CAN'T, if they so choose. That's my opinion. Hypocritical or not, I find it absurd that Chrisfan would lock a thread on Current Events that has to do with Current Events (she's locked at least a couple in the last few hours)...especially when the only justification for doing so is, "because that's not how we use these boards"...(to paraphrase a bit) Well, that's how the boards were created to be used. Is it hypocritical for me to point this out or is it hypocritical to expect everyone to use these boards the way you use them or else have your thread locked?

Actually, I went on record and agreed with you JAC. (I don't honestly remember even the old RS boards staying on track all the time. And, there were always off-shoots of those boards to one degree or another. Some boards, not even remotely related, would have parts of the same thread.) Is this Saddam's punishment? Board Moderator.

No JAC, your point is both an obvious one and a necessary one, ironically. You are completely right. Keeping one long 'CE' thread without allowing it to spread out is not what this forum was intended to be. The entire beauty of this proboards format is that it allows any topic of discussion to spread out into various sub-topics, and keep several disparate convos going.
Surely Chrisfan can see that? *just roll with it, chrisfan*
Yeah, I couldn't believe she locked up my Bush Handling The War topic, when it was specifically created in HONOR of her original wishes to keep a bonafide CE convo going.
and it was ME who did that! ME! I didn't have to go out of my way to try and help you, chrisfan, but I did! And that's how you show your appreciation?
When I say "get a grip", I do not mean it condescendingly, nor do I mean it mean-spiritedly! I mean it gently, honestly, and directly, chrisfan! Just like I'd mean it if I were saying it to a real and true friend! I'm only trying to show I care, and I don't want you to get all stressed out over this, cuz its not worth it for you hun!
If its any reassurance chrisfan, I really have admired how much we've all grown together, despite the bumpy ride, and I can say with perfect honesty, I respect your POV much more these days (the current fiasco notwithstanding), because you have shown true open mindedness in all your recent postings (but not in your deletions).
Anyway, whatever chrisfan. I'll still be here, just being me, and I'll always lend an ear to what you have to say. I, too, value disparate POVs, and wish to learn from them.

I know what a winky face means. I took that into consideration before I replied.

Chrisfan, do you have some kind of administrator invisibility function? I PM'ed you and got an immediate response...which I would have expected, except that the main page did not show your name as ONLINE. How did that happen?

I think everyone has that ability in their profile...of course, I could be way off-base again.

Ah, you're saying it won't matter anyway. Nice to know I'm still held in such high regard! What I'm saying is that in the grand scheme of things, in the great gestalt, these boards are pretty insignificant. Right? I'm saying that it's ridiculous to think you need to bookmark so many in an attempt to stay up to snuff with what's going on here. Okay? You're joking, fine. Take it as a commentary on the absurd notion itself, then, and don't try and play me for holding you in low esteem.

I was off line for a while. I logged on, saw a message from you, and replied. The refresh functions can be somewhat slow at times, so perhaps that explains why I appeared to be off while I wasn't. Hell, earlier today, DED got pissed when he thought I was on and I wasn't.
