Tired of Stephen King? Look no further than this author (luke...). Guaranteed to deliver the goods. This novel is actually a sequel - I haven't read the first one, called CITY INFERNAL. I'll read it afterwards . . . I just started in on this thing, and there ain't no way in HELL I'm going to stop now! Ed Lee is one sick puppy....

Just finished this, to the accompanying simmering musical soundscapes of the Dirty Three's "Cinder", oddly appropriate to the mood and tone of The Gunslinger's apprentice youth in Gilead. This comic is untouchable. Jae Lee's artwork is inspired, and stunning. The scripter nails the proper voice for young Roland. This is 5-star comic book gold right here; get yours while they're still available on the stands (won't be for long, I can assure thee). Issue #2 will be out in a coupla weeks, March 7 or so. Seriously though - this is a deluxe and loving treatment of King's legendary Dark Tower series, w/glossy pages in full color spreads, just gorgeous artwork and serious narrative tone. All the characters are there, and depicted perfectly as if they were lifted from your own imagining of what they must've looked like. Highly recommended whether you've read the original books or not. In fact, I kind of envy those whose introduction to Roland of Gilead - the last gunslinger - comes via this devotional & superb Marvel title. It serves as a brilliant & perfect preface from which to delve into the books themselves. All around killer title, destined for immaculate collectability. Run, do not walk, to your nearest comic store. Keep fingers crossed it isn't already sold out.

I'm ALL OVER that Joe Hill novel, La ! TheLady was the first to let me in on it . . . and after reading the Amazon.com reviews, I'm sold ! Not to mention he's Big Steve's kid. I'll be ordering it from Amazon.com probably today; its just, I kinda wanna see if I can buy it for 25% Off in a bookstore downtown, cuz 25% Off the cover price just about = Amazon price + shipping.
Lisey's Story is awesome; highly recommended for both King fans and Non-King fans.
