Crack Whore Junkies? Who'da thought there'd be a whole space dedicated to Courtney Love? And why in the world do I have to have my eyes fixed upon Tweety? Speaking of junkies... I officially decided that I'm going to continue smoking, at least for the time being... I don't have it in me right now. drag, puff, blow... Hey Slark, it's I Patlogi under a new moniker. Logi (my dog) died a couple months ago, so I changed my moniker. Are you looking forward to Madonna's "Confessions on the dancefloor" as much as I am? Have you heard "Hung Up" yet? I don't listen to radio much and when I do its not the top 40 station here in Austin. Heck, I have no idea what the top 40 station even is. Still in school? Still workin' at the grocery? See you're still smokin' the f@gs...

Hey Slark...are you going to watch Madonna's 'I’m Going to Tell You a Secret' - which premieres Friday at 10 p.m. on MTV? I would but I haven't had cable installed at my new pad, just use to boob-tube for movies and nintendo. Am having basic installed next month with roadrunner light internet service. Decided to use the smokes money for cable/internet service.

Tweety is such a girl thing though. I thought you were a girl too.
LMAO at the DD guy, that must be lots of fun to work with. I'm gonna shit all over my momma's custard pie.
The office I work at (until Friday!!!) deals with crazy people but most of the ones who actually end up coming into our office for hearings and such are paranoid schizophrenics. Yesterday I guess a lady had a hearing with us and explained the reason she didn't have any paperwork for her housing was because "I just thought I'd start fresh -- I threw everything away." Including her ID, food, and medication.
While the folks who troop into the conference room with lampshades over their heads to protect their brainwaves from the CIA or got fired from their job for making poop sandwiches are kind of funny and interesting, I'd much prefer to deal with the guy who wants to smoke him some beer!

Good to see you around, Pat. I should have figured that was you, and it's a good thing I didn't make any degrading statements cause I fucking hate Tweety bird.
RE: Madonna.
Yeah, the bf got the single off of the radio server at work, even though he fucking hates Madonna. It's cool in the Madonna "Vogue" kind of way, but I'll always like pretentious Madonna far more. And I hate saying that I like a song "because of the beat." There's really nothing to it except some song about telephones and how she's hanging up on someone when in actuality she's married and stuff.
I felt the same way about "Music" (with the single being stupid and all) but that had some killer tracks on it, so I'm sure the album will be better than I'm thinking right now. She's the only "dance pop" artist I can remotely like so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. But I'm quite sure it won't top System Of A Down or Fiona Apple for this past year. Nor do I think it'll beat the new System Of A Down album that will be released a week after hers.
Honestly, I think the documentary will be more interesting than the single... Dunno if I'll catch it on Friday, depends on what's going on, but it'll prolly be played a hundred times on MTV and VH1 considering they repeat the fuck out of everything.

Madonna deserves some kudos on her latest accomplishment ... only the second artist in history to get permission to use Abba music in a recording. She may be a loon from time to time, but at least she recognizes good music when she sees it. (even if she is sampling their second most crappy song)

(even if she is sampling their second most crappy song) Not so, there is a heavy metal tribute album to Abba Yngwie Malmsteen's Give Me Your Love After Midnight (a slight changing of the words) Or Therion's Cover of Summer Night City And Sinergy did indeed cover Give Me Your Man After Midnight Not sure of the rest of them

Covers and sampling are two entirely different things. Abba has only granted permission to use their music to two artists, and Madonna is the second.

Chrisfan is exactly right. There really isn't much an artist can do to keep from being covered, the other performer just has to pay royalties to the songwriters.
So who was the first to sample an ABBA song? (I know, it was Phil le Scarecrow! He luuuuuuuuvs ABBA). ;D

Artists have to get a copyright license to cover another band's music or use their music. Maybe over in the Norwegian countries the law is different? I would imagine they aren't though.
Vanilla Ice got nailed for this in his song Ice Ice Baby.

Real easy to get permission to cover a song ... just send the check to the copyright holder. It's really tough to deny permission for someone else to perform a song (fair use rules apply here). But when it comes to the actual performance (as in a sample), the artist gets to pick and choose who can profit from it. So a copyright holder has much greater control over who uses their performance of a song than they do over who can perform the song.
Does that make sense? At least that's what I remember from the last time I looked at copyright law.
