Baghdatis became one of my favorite players of all time yesterday. To play as hard as he did - a player who is used to playing the fans who was left with just a couple of people in his coach's box on his side against 26,000 people last night - running on legs that could barely hold him up - it was simply amazing. Last year's Blake / Agassi match no longer holds a candle to the world of "It's a shame both guys couldn't win". And then, the icing on the cake was the absolute class act that Baghdatis demonstrated he is in his post-match interview. Wow! I liked the guy before, and was glad that he's on the scene. But he has absolutely won me over. I'll be cheering for him against just about anyone in the future ...

Yeah, he definitely was very cool in the face-to-face......but was it 'ALLAH! ALLAH!'?

Who cares if it was? How is that different from an athlete who crosses themself constantly? I find both to be equally annoying, but well within their rights to do.

I agree with Rocky that it is rather irrelevant if he was saying Allah ... but are you absolutely positive that's what he was saying Doc? Are you confident it wasn't "oompa"? The guy is Greek - I've seen him yell "oompa"! on more than one occasion. I'm not positive about his religious affiliation, but I've read that he's Eastern Orthodox. That makes sense since he's seen crossing himself before big matches. Based on stereotype and cultural tradition alone, it makes a hell of a lot more sense that in a moment of celebration and excitement, he'd yell "oompa" again rather than "Allah".

Oompa ... Maybe the guy is just a fan of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" ...

Whatever -- you get t he point of the word I meant, and further confirmation that I know more about tennis than I do about being Greek.

Never paid much attention to Agassi, but after today I find him quite appealing. I love when men show their emotions, and his little speech was most certainly heartfelt.

I got a little choked up watching his speech today and seeing him so swept up by the emotion. But I still just can't get past the full body shave. A man showing emotions is fine ... but a man who shaves his legs and arms and THEN cries in public ... that's too feminine. Men are allowed to shave their faces, and if necessary their backs. They can trim hair on their heads, noses, and ears. All the rest should be left alone.

A friend's husband waxes his entire body (he was a bodybuilder at one point and just liked having no body hair, I guess) but I find it freaky. I like my men a little more... manly, I guess. Though back hair's killer and should definitely be taken care of. The whole metrosexual thing is fine, and can be sexy, but it can also be taken too far IMO. Except I'd add one more area to your areas that can be trimmed. I'm a firm believer in guys keeping the hair in their *ahem* nether regions nice and trimmed too. No need to wax or shave - but neat 'n' tidy is definitely better than bushy 'n' straggly in that area.

A very good point Tunes! I guess since the subject was Andre Agassi, I was just trying really hard to not allow my mind to wander there.

Yeah, sorry, I got a bit sidetracked. I don't even like tennis.
