I've been following the Figure Skating competitions. Tonight is the mens short program. China certainly has done well in figure skating, garnering 2nd, 3rd and 4th place (silver & bronze) in pairs skating. The U.S. pair ended in 7th. Alas.
Jogged my first full mile today. Hooray for me.

'Bordercross'? Could be...
Yeah, whatever it's called it definitely IS a blast to watch...it was something I first saw on the Winter X Games and thought 'Wow!'....I think they did motocross bicycles on snow too, that was nearly as much fun to watch.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
That was so funny !!
Try to catch the poor guy in the Acrobatic ski jump competition ... He lost both skis simultaniously at the exact moment he shot out of the jump !
Both skis flew straight up in the air and the guy did his figure anyway before landing on his boots !!
Absolutely hilarious !!

If you still saying it was hilarious, he musta walked away, right?
Someone's ski-tuner is getting a vicious ass-kicking right now.....
~
That poooooor Jacobellis girl last night in the snow-cross!!! Fuck! Talk about bad judgement at precisely the wrong moment! Tho the 'order' of finish in most of those races seems like a damned coinflip considering, one bump, and BOOM, you're off the course...

Yes ! He did ! Landed on his feet and then had a few tumbles!
It would have been the funniest fall I've seen in a long time even if the poor guy had had to be carried off the slope on a stretcher ... ;D
I'm still LMAO just thinking about it !!

That snowboarding cross event, whatever its called, is the only exciting thing I've seen in the Olympics so far this year.
I'm much more of a summer Olympics guy. I think it's mostly that the winter games just have so many scored events, too many timed events, and not enough where people are just going head to head against other people. Sports based on a judge's score just seem so arbitrary to me. Timed events are better, but they still don't have the excitement of something where an athlete has to compete directly with other athletes and fight for position and basically outwit everyone else on top of just the physical aspect. Obviously the best winter event is hockey, but I just haven't been into hockey the last couple years. I wish I did enjoy hockey more because I know Olympic hockey is where its at, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore.
The summer games always have some sort of event I've never watched before that has just completely sucked me in. In '04 it was the fencing events. Couldn't get enough of that stuff.
Anyway, fuck these Olympics. Just something to keep me busy until the World Baseball Classic starts in a couple weeks.

Fuck hockey !!
Downhill racing competition is DA SPORT at the Winter Olympics ...
It's a pity camera angles can't really translate on TV the speed and sheer madness of those skiers

Oh yeah, I'm sure it's very exciting to be the skiers, it's just not very exciting to watch the skiers. They go one at a time, so it goes on forever, and it's the same thing over and over and over again. They all go down the same course, and the difference in their speeds is pretty inperceptible just by watching, so it really does look like its the same thing you just saw with the previous competitor. Boring!

Yeah ! I know what you mean ...
I get the exact same feeling watching a baseball pitcher talking what seems like an eternity between pitches while the catcher scratches his crotch and the batter spits in the dirt ... !!
Riveting ... ;D

You shoulda used golf, Phil...ugh.
I think the enjoyment of skiing is very much enhanced if you ARE a skier yourself. You know what it feels like to dig in those edges to carve a turn. And with these crazies going 50-60 mph, I'm tensing up watching them as they're trying to hold that edge...over all sorta chopped up bumps n'shit. I love watching the skiing...ALL the events there except maybe the acrobatic skiing.
The 'camera-moving-on-a-cable' shot for the mogul competitions was a nice shot and to my thinking, put me 'right there'.
