I think we'll stuff Paraguay, er...1-0
I also think that Nancy will be a non-starter and Colleen will tumble Posh from her throne and emerge as WAG supreme. We all know that the most bitterest battles are being fought off the pitch.

No Ballack in the opener, and I think that they'll be a little jittery. Actually, Germans are too arrogant to get the jitters, so:
German 3 Costa Rica 0
Poland 2 Ecuador 0
As for Sweden, just heard that their goalie is going to out of the first game or so after getting concussed in training. Still, they'll score goals and will be too much for poor little T&T who'll be nervy and outclassed. So:
Sweden 4 - T&T 0

I don't have anything more than a passing interest in how we fare, but if this is any encouragement, I'm sure you guys will cream us. We probably used up all our sports luck in that World Baseball Classic thingy. You're more than welcome to become an honorary Australian then. Sean leaves for Germany tomorrow. That bastard. His brother who is also going said to me "I'll be sure to call you from all the games Australia loses...and from all the games England is winning". We'll see, sonny Jim.

At least everyone espects Australia to lose. With England the anticipation is just ridiculous. Why do we set ourselves up for a huge fall every time? Why? Oh sod it We’re Eng-land All stand-up We’re Eng-land It’s our World Cup We’re Eng-land All stand-up We’re Eng-land It’s our World Cup
Gazza’s tears The hand of God Beckham’s lash out Seaman’s lob Since sixty six We’ve had it tough Now England are back We’ve had enough!!
We’re England We’re England Eng-land, We’re England....etc.

i bet Costa Rica gets a point off of Germany I'd laugh my socks off. I'm all up for seeing the Germans humbled. But I'm not expecting that to happen. I think they'll be up for the big occasion. And apparently latest is that Ballack is now playing. You going to get to watch many of the matches, Ndy?

You can see Lampard in the background thinking "what the fuck is he doing?"
Priceless.

Yeah, I get to watch them at work, and the networks are actually playing every single game here. Pretty excited about it, truth be told. I may even get up at the crack of dawn to watch your little team play tomorrow morning. Same goes for the Dutch on Sunday. Games start at 8 am Chicago time which on the weekend is pushing it for my lifestyle.
Oh, I'm already a bit nervous about my squad's monday matchup too. Nedved apparently limped off of the practice field yesterday, but Bruce Arena thinks it's all Czech subterfuge.

Cisse's broken leg in their practice game this week was horrifying.

Good that you get to see them at work there. We'll have the 2pm games on in the staff room, so I'll get to watch what I can on free periods - and most of the afternoon/evening matches of course.
I quite like the US's chances to progress ahead og the Czchs actually, assuming they don't take Arena's permission to 'party in Frankfurt' too much to heart and all that. Tough group, though. Tough group. I think Nedved will play, though surely he must be 102 by now?
As for little england. I'm not daring to hope too much as I get my heart broken every time. Interesting to see if Rooney comes on in the first couple of matches.

Cisse's broken leg in their practice game this week was horrifying. Ouch. Yes. But more horrifying that we can't now offload the useless git. Honestly, one could almost think that he'd done it deliberately so he wouldn't get sold...

Haha, did you see the pic of the injury? Sent shivers down my spine. Those types of injuries freak me out.
I like the US's chances too, actually. They're better than many give them credit for, though now that they're not an unknown they don't have the element of surprise that they did last time around. The one thing they have going vs. the Czechs is their fitness and athleticism. Should be interesting.

Ballack's out, huh. Crazy.
I too like the US chances against the Czech, although Arena is right. Nedved will play.
Would love to see Costa Rica put one over the Germans, but I don't see it happening.
