I've lost interest Maarts. Rooney just broke his foot. That's England fucked.

Well, here we are, World Cup board. Dude, your chances don't rest on Rooney. You'll do better than fucked.

I'd say you jinxed him Jesus. Say, could you put up a pic of Joe Cole as your next avatar?

I like Sir Kewell's recent penchant for girly hair. It seems to go better with his general poofy reluctance to play through any sort of minor knock or niggle.
See the English FA apparently tried to take my advice and get Guus Hiddink, but he didn't return the calls and then signed that megabucks deal with Russia (funded by Abramovich).
So then we went for my second choice - Big Phil Scolari. Damn, I love that guy, and to appoint an excitable, violent facist who believes gays should be hung by their tongues would have been an exciting adventure and a complete contrast to Sven's boring demeanour.
Sadly, he turned out to be Small Phil when confronted with the awful realities of the English tabloid press and backed out. Gutted.

Are you sure Kewell isn't a Pom? He doesn't exhibit the typical characteristics of the Aussie sportsman - die for the cause, limitless courage, never accepting defeat etc etc

My predictions for the World Cup:
The winner will come from Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Italy or Germany.
Brazil is the obvious pick - look at that attacking quartet of Adriano, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho! That's fucking awe-inspiring. Behind them , players likely Gilberto Silva, Emerson and Edmilson will do the pragmatic stuff, but still demonstrate incredible technique in doing so. Then Lyon's Juninho can come on and score a free kick if they need something different to break down a stubborn defence.
Argentina will be fluid and exciting, with the peerless Riquelme running midfield, but they will only really threaten Brazil if wonderkid Lionel Messi returns from injury. I'd also like to see him running out for Barca in the champions league final, even though it'll hurt Arsenal's chances.
Italy are functional and will be hard to score against, while Inzhagi will buzz about up front like a pesky little bastard and be caught offside, but score crucial goals. Again, they will miss Totti (what is it with all the showpiece players being injured right now?) but Del Piero has found some of his form of old.
Holland always do well in Germany historically, and qualified impressively. Van Basten has cut out much of the dead wood and has a young, vibrant team that plays total football. Much will depend on Robben hitting form. He's unstoppable on his day.
Germany are awful and have only one class player - Ballack. That didn't stop them getting to the final in 2002 though, and being as they're the host nation, and have got their usual favourable draw, I expect them to overachieve and probably reach the final again. I hate them.
Outsiders - Portugal (class team that dominate possession), Spain (but Raul is an albatross around their necks, and Real Madrid's necks, and both teams need to realise he is finished) and England (but they need to reach the last 8 without their talisman and hope Rooney is by then fit enough to play some part).

Well, injuries makes the hardest sportsmen sometimes grow into pansies. I guess in this heroes-shouldn't-be-bigger-than-their-sportshoes-environment right here, Kewell is a big bad sinner. How could he not be the working class hero-soccerplayer everybody wants him to be? Style, grace and air belongs to the Brazilians- we want 12 Bon Scott-lookalikes on the field!

Are you sure Kewell isn't a Pom? He doesn't exhibit the typical characteristics of the Aussie sportsman - die for the cause, limitless courage, never accepting defeat etc etc I think Kewell is British by birth? I'm pretty sure at least one of his parents is a full-blood Brit, Kewell may even be a citizen by now. Anyway, he sounds like a Brit now. That bastard. Him & his pretty hair.

I like your write-up there, JLLM. Thats quite spot-on.
I'll miss Totti, too, but more because he was the best looker in a team full of pretty boys. I'm sure the Stallions can make up for it, perhaps if they wear tighter shorts? It'd be a start, anyway.
I'm going to put a shitload of money on Australia to win (don't laugh! If they DO win I'll be several thousand dollars richer...if they don't, it'll be great for a laugh), but my serious bet will probably be on Argentina. I have a very complex system of barracking, dictated by my various nationalities & their allies. So once AUS is out of the game & being that there is no Colombia, my loyalty automatically reverts back to Spain. If & when Spain exit (I always dream they'll win, each time, even when they start getting hopeless), I support any Central/Sth American teams remaining to various degrees (eg. more support for Mexico, less for Brasil because those dirty bastards don't speak Spanish). I there are no teams for me to support, I choose whichever country has last beaten England, even if its the Ukraine.
My primary concern is that England or Germany do not win.

It's an Aussie-Brit thing. A seriously big sporting rivalry.
What's worse is that the Aussies are so bloody good at nearly all sports.
