I'm going to have to say that while I want so bad for England to win on the 40th Anniversary of the win in 66, I think Holland is going to slay everyone.

During the last World Cup I was dating a Brazilian. I hold that entire nation responsible for him being a prick, so I've placed a Colombian tribal curse on them. They won't be winning this year.
Although in the event of a Brasil v England showdown, I will reverse the curse. The Poms don't need to be hexed to lose. haha. Its always fun when England gets smashed in their own sports.

Didn't say I wasn't going to support Australia, just tipping that the Dutch might pull through this time. Australia will have a tough order qualifying against Japan, Croatia and Brazil. They will be well organised and motivated and under the guidance of Guus Hiddink will be able to be very competitive. I was quite impressed with their collective skill and determination but I wonder that their lack of competitiveness as a team against top opposition as well as a lack of experience at the highest level. Didn't deter South Korea to go far last time around and you never know...but the Croatians are crafty and Brazil has been maintaining good form over the last couple of internationals.
With the Dutch there's finally this air of no-bullshit around the team. Loads of new kids that can play as a team but do miss experience. Got caught out badly during a friendly against Italy a few months ago with a few defenders being found out but Van Basten has managed well to repair the gaps and keep the young ones motivated. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, the new Ajax-striker is in great form and could pop up to be the surprise of the team and if Arjen Robben can stay away from yellow and red cards he'll be a danger throughout.

well good luck to you, would it be an upset if the dutch won? There was such an air of anticipation and excitement here and just as it was all about to take off, it was like someone came and pricked the balloon However, leaves open the possibility of a REALLY good tale unfolding now. Trouble is, people here are like New Zealanders - v tough on their own teams and also are all too familiar with things not going our way! Anyway, still got the old st george's cross flag sticky thing suctioned to Gaz's back windscreen, thought better chav up his ride a bit in preparation for cup fever!

yeah, thats a very fair assessment. I think the Aus team is just as good as the Croats on paper, but their inexperience will probably hold them back. Still, $100 on Australia to win the Cup for me. I'll be a millionaire. Well, a thousandaire. High roller, thats me.

To be honest I'd be beyond surprised if the Brazilians pulled it off again; transitional teams (that mix of experience, youth, and high talent) generally don't add up to much on our side: egos clash, some people try to do too much, others fail to take control when they have to, etc. It's not really a matter of the Brazilian defense being suspect; our defense is ALWAYS sketchy.
If we can't pul it off, I back whoever is not the Americans or the Argentinians. I think that futbol is the one export many other countries still have over the Americans, and I am not ready to cede supremacy over to the USA just yet. And as a Brazilian, I swore a blood oath to hate the Argentine. Down with those fuckers.
