Looks like Coach K and Bobby Knight have something in common: They both just went in through the outdoor. * has Kansas over Texas A&M in the finals * I'd be pretty surprised if too many people had Duke vs. TT in the finals.

Gtown's hangin' around, no question. ... ... ... But this is where I impale myself for having Texas Tech in the elite eight.
Stuff I want to see:
- At least a couple dominant performances out of Greg Oden. As a Sixers fan (although one who recognizes the team got better the second AI got shipped to the other side of the country), I'm hopeful half of the remaining games can be lost... and then it's a matter of getting lucky in the lottery, plus packaging some goodies if necessary.
- No Temple, no St. Joe's, Penn's already out, Drexel got snubbed... so now Nova needs to win tonight to keep the dream alive, before the Jayhawks make the entire region cry.
- Upset specials. I was stupid and picked Texas A&M CC to win today, so that would be nice, if not virtually impossible. Got suckered in by their 3-point percentages...

Ah yes, the NCAA tournament. Still the most exciting tv there is: a single elimination tournament of the top 64 college basketball teams from all over the US, seperated into brackets, and then its win or go home. And as you widdle the field down to the Final Four you get to see dim-witted, bubbly-breasted college cheerleaders bawling like little babies when their team gets knocked out. You see middle-aged coaches with unbelievable comb-overs literally having multiple heart attacks with each ticking second of the clock. You get controversial calls by the refs, you get 6 foot tall white guys making last second shots...then you get all of the back stories about this or that player coming up from the ghetto, or this coach's wife who is dying of Ass cancer, or a team mascot who is mentally challenged. And lers not forgety the college bands, and all the college kids with pints of brandy hidden under their coats and their faces painted in their school colors, or the divorced alumni who have bet their entire savings on whether some 18 year old dopesmoking pimply-faced kid makes a last second free throw or not--and you have the entire nation involved in office pools, where they can put in five bucks and win 200 if they can pick the most winning teams...And it all takes place against the incredibly beautiful backdrop of the month that comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb as our great nation experiences its last gasping breaths of winter and first budding moments of springtime...ahhhh, the ritual of it all--gotta love it!

BYU losing by 2 points is annoying. If my picks are going to lose, they may as well lose big.

Rock: I hear what you're saying, but since I'm not betting any money, I'll live with a good game and/or mid-level upset, if my bracket has to suffer as a result. I actually feel worse if my pick gets trounced (i.e. USC's double-digit whacking of Texas).
It looks like PEW has to live out of his car for the next five years.
In other news, all of the bigtime underdogs are underground, and we have to live with UNLV over Wisconsin as the biggest upset of the tournament. There's almost as bad as a couple of my Sweet 16 picks:
Oregon > Texas A&M Corpus Christi Texas Tech > Oral Roberts

How's everyone's brackets looking?
I filled out two in the pool I'm in -- with one, I'm tied for second. With the other, I'm second to last place. I still have my final four in both brackets in tact though.
My Final Four: Bracket One - Oregon, UCLA, G'Town, Ohio State (Ohio St. is my champion in this bracket)
Bracket Two - Florida, Kansas, UNC, Texas A&M (bracket 2 is the one tied for second - I got UNC winning it all)

In the 'Not Invited Tournament' (NIT) there is a good Big East/ACC match up between Syracuse and Clemson.
I'm still peeved that fucking Clemson started out 17-0, then had a colossal melt down and missed the tourney! They're not bad by any means, their record now stands at 23-10, and they're the #1 seed in the NIT, but still...it fucking sucks...they had it, then blew it.

Memphis
They made it to the Final Four in the 80s, back when I lived next door to Memphis. They're certainly good enough to beat Ohio State. I hope they pull it off.

There's something special about UNC... they're fast, they're aggressive, they step up late in the second half, and no matter the score, it seems obvious that they'll come back and win.
I may be eating those words tonight, but I'm feelin' them. Wouldn't be shocked if they took it all.

Pity about Memphis- Ohio was just a little bit cleverer at the end.
UNC was lucky that USC collapsed halfway through the second half.

Ha, check it out: The team that looks as mature and ready as anybody ends up melting down. Silly tournament.
Prediction: Florida vs. G'Town.
Judging by My Track Record This Tourney: Bet on UCLA and Ohio State.

I have 3 of the final four in my bracket (UCLA, G'Town, Ohio)...thought the Ducks would beat UF, but alas, a duck is no match for a gator. UF looks pretty unstoppable.....UCLA may get an upset, but I'm thinking Florida is gonna win this thing again.

In the Not Important Tournament, Clemson plays W. Va in the championship game tonight on ESPN at the Garden.
