You'll have my comments on f/x's RESCUE ME joining in on the positive...tho' I wish they hadn't gotten rid of 'what's-her-name' as the one female in the firehouse. The same actress worked well with Leary in THE JOB.......anyone ever catch on one of the last episodes where Leary's charactor was actually wearing a "Job" t-shirt as an inside rib? I wish they didn't get rid of her too - I'm still hoping she'll re-emerge at some point. Yeah, she was great on The Job - and so was Uncle Teddy! (who's one of my favourite characters on this show... hilarious.) I completely missed Leary's 'The Job' t-shirt though... will have to watch for it when the second season box comes out (not sure when that's happening, but I'm hoping it's relatively soon.)

Does anyone have any idea what time of year FX shows Rescue Me? The talk here has convinced me I have to check it out. But I know FX rotates their shows, so I have no idea when to look for it. I'd mark my calendar for it if I knew, but the FX website is ZERO help.

I can't wait for 24, I've sold so many of my friends on this show, now they're all hyped too. They all have watched the DVD's and this will be the first time they watch it the proper way and wait a week till the next show....it's nerve racking, but it's kinda fun w/ the build up of anticipation and such.
All 4 seasons have been great, and I expect season 5 to be no less.

Ugh... I can never watch TV, it's such a burden on me... I need DVR or something. Not to mention, if I like a show it's demise is pretty much certain.
You have a show like "Dead Like Me," a smart show with a quirky, dark sense of humor. Definitely one of my favorite shows, EVER, and it gets cancelled after two fucking seasons. That really pisses me off. I don't like TV for the most part, and yet, that show really kind of shouldn't have been. There's always going to be shows that don't get great ratings, so why not keep some of them around and see if you can build an audience.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer - the best show of the past 15 years, and what happens? It gets cancelled (can't really bitch though... 7 seasons)
And then Angel - 5 seasons, which you could kind of add onto Buffy, so I guess maybe my bitching is of less merit. Didn't really care though cause they destroyed Cordelia in Season 4, and then gave us that little tease in Season 5, and then killed her off. That pissed me off. My favorite character of either show... dead like Winnifred.
Alias - that's over this year, and also an awesome show. Ugh. Can't say I ever watched it on TV though, my friend buys the DVDs so I just watch it there. And yeah, Sark. Yes, the evil guy is the best character there.
I think I should just stick to cartoons... The Family Guy, The Simpsons, King Of The Hill, South Park... I don't think those shows will ever be cancelled, and how I love them so. STEWIE!!!

Agree w/you completely about Buffy being a great show, and I'm still pissed at the way they cancelled Angel w/o giving Joss adequate time to do a proper "finale" story arc. He said at the time that he wanted the last episode to be painful, b/c it was painful for the people involved to have the show yanked out from under them when they felt like they were doing some interesting stuff (which they were). David B. is quite good in Bones, however, which is a show that I'm really enjoying. Maybe it's just b/c I wished more anthropologists were as hot as the lead actress ... But I wouldn't count on those cartoons never being cancelled. Don't forget that Family Guy WAS cancelled, and Fox only brought it back after it was so succesful on DVD. Well, maybe they'll do the same for Arrested Development. The funniest show on television for the last few years. And that includes the Simpsons! IMHO AD is the best show of this decade, thus far. And this will probably (almost certainly) be its last season. Bastards.

Don't count AD out just yet. There's little chance of Fox bringing it back (DVDs are already out there, so it can't hang it's hat on Family Guy hope) but Showtime and ABC have expressed interest in picking it up. Right now, Fox has not officially cancelled it, so they can't shop it around. But I would venture to guess that as soon as they do (and they should - they're the producers of the show so they've got a financial interest in selling it elsewhere) it will likely be picked up by someone - Showtime is the frontrunner.

The problem with Arrested Development getting brought back by DVD sales is there there's no Cartoon Network for a show like that. I couldn't see Comedy Central latching onto it like Cartoon Network did Family Guy. Cartoon Network is the ONLY reason that Family Guy is back on TV.
I wish they'd have cancelled all those shows like Aqua Teen and SeaLab two years ago. They peaked in 2002, and now they're just a big fucking joke. Adult Swim really went to shit the last couple years. It's just a bunch of completely unfunny assholes trying to entertain a bunch of Hot Topic kids. Miserable.

AH! Didn't even think about Showtime. That could work.

Even though Showtime is the frontrunner, I wouldn't count ABC out either. Even though it's another broadcast network, they could benefit from a strong sit-com like that. They're also in a position to be more accomodating to letting it find it's legs.
Fox is going through an identity crisis where it wants to be one of the big boys when it comes to ratings, but wants to program itself for niche audiences when it comes to programming. ABC has the comfort zone of knowing where they are and knowing the success they have. Besides, there have been several shows which have become successful AFTER jumping to a new network.

Would you believe I've never seen a SINGLE episode of Arrested Development?
Or 24, for that matter.
But I have an even more ultra-embarrassing confession to make.
I miss Beverly Hills 90210.
Seriously, that show was probably the biggest TV guilty pleasure I've ever had - the early years, anyway. Not the crap years of college and beyond.
Yeah, it was totally cheesy and ridiculous, but it just brings back such memories of being a teenager and seeing the first season when I was vacationing in Florida when I was like 13.
I just wish they'd put it out on DVD, because I would completely buy it. I'm unfortunately not kidding.
There, I feel better. And rightly embarrassed.

Oh Tunes, I agree with you completely!!!!! In fact, a few years before 90210 came out, I can remember telling a friend that I thought it would be great if there was a drama on TV that was a thirtysomething-like drama (meaning stories about life rather than totally unrealistic BS) that focused on a family, but more on the teenagers than the adults. I had the whole thing planned out in my mind, where there'd be a brother and a sister. In the first episode, they'd be moving into a new house and starting at a new school, and the show would get to know the various teen characters as the brother and sister got to know their new friends. The parents and other adults would be a part of the show, but would be more supporting cast than main players. When 90210 came out, I felt like Aaron Spelling really owed me some royalties. Of course, my show was better ... and in the final episode, the family moved out of the house.
FX was running the old episodes for a while. I think they air somewhere else now, but i could be wrong. You're also totally right about it starting to suck once they went to college, and even worse after that. But when we had drama like Kelly and Brenda wearing the same dress to the dance ... oh that show rocked!

Aw Chris, think of the zillions you could have made! I'm glad I'm not the only one. My problem is exacerbated by the fact that NO ONE airs reruns of that show here. So I haven't seen it in years and years. But oh, the memories! Like the infamous slumber party with that bitchy Amanda girl and her pill addiction, where Kelly spilled her guts about having sex with the football player. Or when Brenda becomes "Laverne" at the Peach Pit. Sigh. It was still airing when Steve and I started dating seven years ago (yeah, the crappy years of the show, but I watched it anyway) and he was embarrassed that he watched it too. So we'd get together every Wednesday night to make fun of it together. Them were the days, I tells ya.

I think my favorite episodes were when Fox decided to take the very unusual step of having Summer episodes, rather than repeats. Donna and Brenda went to Paris, leaving room for Kelly to move in on Dylan. Oh the scandal of their midnight swim after Brenda returned!!!!! The pathetic thing is, I can remember the previews when they showed Dylan in the pool, and the voiceover told you he'd chosen one of them. The girl in the pool was CLEARLY blonde, and yet, most people I know - including me - spent the entire week trying to guess if he'd chosen Brenda or Kelly.

Aw, I loved the summer episodes. Was that the same time Brandon was working at the beach club?
Wait --- he DID work at the beach club, right? I'm not just mixing this up with Saved by the Bell all of a sudden?

Yes, he worked at the beach club. Nat gave him the summer off from the Peach Pit so he could. Then, he helped Andrea get a job there as a camp counselor, and she got to take care of the little deaf boy.
