Yeah, I understand what they were trying to do with the Connor storyline, it just didn't play out right. Season 3 was so fucking good, and I was shitting in my pants waiting for Season 4, and then I got that. Ugh. I still think the reason Season 4 pissed me off so much was that there wasn't much Cordelia, and when there was it wasn't "Cordelia." Boinking Connor was just disgusting!!! Bluck. Anyway, they redeemed in Season 5.
I don't buy TV shows on DVD either, well, for the most part. I have all the seasons of The Family Guy and the Third Season of South Park. I don't like commercials. And yes, I can watch these shows over and over and over again. My one friend is a TV nerd, so any show I like that I want to see again, well, she owns it. Buffy, Angel, Alias, and Dead Like Me.

..."I don't watch TV, I dont waste my time, or live in apathy..." Then why bother reading or posting on a TV thread?

Anyone up on the new Battlestar Galatica series? I missed the entire last season and turned on the season primier last night to find that there were now TWO battlestars and that the Admiral of the 2nd was out to destroy Adama...like, wha' And Starbuck and Apollo were now with this other ship??? Even having a LOT of blanks, the episode built up to a figgin' helluva last minute with the two leaders plotting how to assissinate the other -- high drama with Adama's last words measured out to Starbuck: "I want you to walk up behind her.....take out your weapon....and fire it into the back of her head."

Tunes, I found 90210 for you. If by any chance you get Soap Net, it's on there.
Did anyone watch The Book of Daniel last night? I did not, but got a recap from my parents this morning. It sounds like it's not long for this world. Rather than being a controversial show, it sounds like they set out to be controversial and nothing else, which never works. Besides, it's in a crappytime slot for the audience they're after. They are aftera bunch of people who say "Yeah! Religious people are hypocrites and they suck!" and they put it on Friday night? Who is home on Friday nights? The religious people who'd be offended by that.

'Aunt Carrie'? Nope I didn't hear that, just 'Carrie' with a quick 'Oh fuck, that's too familiar'-apology....then she quickly presumed he was quitting for his 'shot at music'...
I've seen that Battlestar Galactica series on so many best of lists and I haven't watched any of it...and I used to be a terrible sci-fi geek...dammit.

I haven't watched the first episode of season three yet, but Battlestar Galactica has been absolutely incredible the last two seasons. I don't have time right now to go into a big spiel about it, but let's just say that it is at the top of my season pass list on TiVo. It's a sin to miss an episode of BG. And an even bigger sin to compare it to the series of the same name from the late seventies. That would be like comparing Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the television show, to ... well, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the movie.

For some reason it always takes me forever to actually drag my ass over to a particular thread and start posting once I've discovered the thread exists....
...but I finally managed to get myself over here! So, here are my all-important TV-related questins/suggestions/comments:
1) The Wire - posted about this on weeping's movie board, so the really abbreviated version is, I LOVE THIS SHOW. It's an HBO show about the Baltimore drug trade...kind of.... although it expands waaaaay beyond that. Each season follows just one single investigation, which allows a really complex, in-depth look at policing and detective work, as well as Baltimore city politics, life in the projects, and, in the second season, stevedores and labor unions. Does anyone else watch this?? I was so blown away by the second season that I was almost ready to proclaim it as good as The Sopranos.... almost. If it can keep up this level of quality, at least. Speaking of...
2) When exactly does the sixth season of The Sopranos start?? I wanna be on that shit, gonna have to arrange to watch it at a friend's place. Plus I feel like I need to refresh my memory by re-watching the fifth season - is that on DVD yet?
3) Who here has seen Freaks and Geeks? Borrowed it on DVD from a friend a few months ago and it's totally fabulous and would be much-beloved, I've no doubt at all, by many of the folks here (I predict tuneschick would flip for it!) It's possibly the only high school TV show I could ever really get into and take seriously - great writing, great characters, and an intentional focus on the kids who are usually just the butt of a few lame jokes in most other high school shows - the burnouts and the ultra-nerds.
4) All I have to say about Six Feet Under - very promising first season, but then it went completely off the rails and just got increasingly preposterous with every season - eventually I think it was just about the most overrated pretentious garbage on TV. Bleh.
OK. That's all I have to contribute...considering I only ever turn my TV on in order to put a DVD on.... it seems the only TV shows I watch are on HBO or long-since cancelled!!!
Cheers, M

I THINK that Sopranos starts up in March.
I like so much of the cast of The Wire (since so many of them were on Third Watch at some point or another) that I've always intended to watch it, but never have. For some reason, I have an issue with hour long shows on HBO. I can do the half hour shows (First and Ten - does anyone remember that show?, Sex and the City, Entourage) with no problem, but I start to get fidgety and impatient with the hour shows. I can't sit that long without commercials. Strangely, I have no problem sitting through a two hour movie without commercials. Go figure.
Speaking of it, IMO, Entourage is becoming the best half hour show that HBO has ever done. Jeremy Piven has been muddling through roles doing a pretty good job for years just waiting for the moment he was born for playing Ari.
Freaks and Geeks I watched every now and then when it was originally on NBC. I always liked it when it was on, but for whatever reason it was never one of those shows I made a point to watch. I guess that means it's partially my fault that it was cancelled.

Aw Chris, I don't get SoapNet... guess my cheesy addiction will have to go unfulfilled a while longer!
Mary, I've never seen Freaks and Geeks, but you're not the first person to predict that I would love it. I'll have to rent it... sounds like it's right up my alley!
I also loved My So-Called Life, which is on my "to buy" list.

Got my then-girlfriend now-wife the entire series of My So-Called Life for our first Christmas together. What a good show.
Mary, Sopranos starts in March. They're counting down every season right now, to build up to it. I can't fucking wait.
My hairdresser and I were talking last week about how we used to request off from Chili's on Sunday nights to watch Sopranos. When the season starts, Sunday nights from 8:00-9:00pm cst are the most significant things in the universe until it ends. I can't fucking wait.
NOT looking forward to the inevitable syndication, though. Bah.
The new Family Guy last night was okay. That show is certainly holding up better than The Simpsons or (especially) South Park, but it's still not what it was.

TV shows I'm watching now....
Lost Battlestar Gallactica The West Wing (I'm still back on the second season DVDs, not up to date yet) Alias (even though it sucks this year) the Daily Show/Colbert Report Mythbusters
There's nothing else I really make a point to watch.

Mythbusters should rename itself "Forwarded Spam Busters." Don't think they've tackled an actual myth or urban legend in seasons.

Spam emails are the way that urban legends are circulated today. Either way, I love that show.
