Wow, I just went back through from page 1. What fun! It loads up in a jiffy if you haven't cleared your cache.
Thanks, Citizen - history is one of my great loves, too. BTW, the stones in the chimmney of that log house were quarried out of the creek that runs by it, by my great-great granddad & friends. I just can't imagine doing that.
Phil, did you really build that house?

Great smokie. Are those little rocks on it?
Sure are Rock. I built the church and primed it. Then I washed the stones in a bucket of water, and then put them in a rock polisher which gave them a kinda semi-glossy finish. I used gray caulk to simulate mortar, and coated the entire exterior (it takes many tubes of caulk!), then positioned the stones. Voila! You have a stone building! It's a heavy sumbitch too!
And stratman, what a great mailbox - could I commission you to build an indoor sculpture of Nick Cave for me?
Haha Mary! I think that might be beyond my limited abilities! But thanks for asking!

Neato. I've always wanted to build my own place like that...sometimes I think I was born in the wrong century. Miniver Cheevy...
Oh, and Strat-0 I just realized we live in the same friggin' city. I saw your band's logos mentioning The Mill, Five Points South, and Mountain Brook and had to do a double take. Weird.

Ahhh the ole wheelbarrow push. Too cute. I think everyone has a wheelbarrow shot somewhere in his or her childhood history. Sort of a strange rite of passage.

So true, rockkid... in fact, I think we have one of my brother looking almost identical. This kid is priceless. He was "helping" my dad work in the yard, but couldn't do any work until he put his (my mom's) work gloves on. Kids crack me up. He's 2 1/2... and when I talked to him the other day he told me "the Maple Leafs lost the series, now they're playing golf." He IS his father's son!
