Here in the states it doesnt have a name--like the Credit Crunch. I was going to be sarcastic and say "It is a new cereal--like Captain Crunch but all the shapes are like Credit Cards" Credit Crunch Cereal!
random top 5:
05.. Since Don is so hip to Kingdom Come and I cant find the f*&king tape in my garage, I'm going on a hunt to find it tomorrow. If it sucks Don I am paying you a visit in which I will proceed to drink all the brew you have in your house, without malice of course.
04. Went bowling today. I realize I need to go to a BOWLING CLASS. I either get a strike or NOTHING. Thats the way it is with me.
03. Where the hell is Strawman? Hey is there bowling in NZ?
02. M. Wards new album is GOOD!
01. Boston Spaceship album has been DELAYED (i know there are other horrible things going on but for some reason this pissed me of)
03.

10. me showing up AND posting here You're not the only one. We like random things though.
9. bowling in NZ....we have all kinds, some with pins, some with a jack Jack of spades? Tire-jack? Strange lot you are...
8. fireworks in nightclubs (why do they do that?....the station and santika) Dunno....to recreate the Great White-drama?
7. a top 100 all time rock album list with NO pixies...wtf...rock.fm, you and your listeners suck Be glad...something tells me that a rock album list with Black Album on 1 doesn't deserve any Pixies on it.
6. a top 100 all time rock album list and split enz is the only NZ band......wtf...rock.fm, you and your neanderthal listeners really suck NZ's better in pop anyway.
5. my summer patio built in time for winter....maybe A nice vista to gaze in at the rain perhaps?
4. a guy in a bikini (its true!) Ye Gods! Is it Mardi Gras-time already? (It actually is!)
3. my name making the liner notes of a CD (its true too...haha...and not even mine!) Cool! Which one is it? Hope the CD's is issued beyond the 500-copy mark...
2. why is american idol still popular? Because people are gluttons for punishment. The more likely someone will get a cruel putdown on a show, the more likely it will score- just like the glee certain workers feel when one of their colleagues gets a public dressing down from the boss. Plus the perve-factor...always prevalent in people with no lives of their own.
1. is metallicas black album really the best rock album ever....ever!!!!..rock.fm aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhh You know damn well it ain't. Did Black Sabbath's Masters Of Reality feature anywhere? Or was it a complete whitewash of Kiss, G'nfuckin'R and Def fucking Leppard?

Ten Random Things ...
10. I'm on spring break -- so I'll be around here all week. (Not sure if this is a promise or threat) ;-) 9. Josh Whedon's new show "Dollhouse" has me seriously missing both Buffy and Angel, in a good way. But the first few episodes have left me wanting more, and really appreciating Eliza Dushku (who is still seriously hot, BTW). 8. The new U2 is a solid record. There aren't the highs of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb ("Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own," "Miracle Drug," the acoustic take on "Between a Man and a Woman") but there aren't the lows, either ("Love and Peace, Or Else," "Vertigo"). 7. The new Springsteen still has me scratching my head ... it's the most inconsistent thing that Bruce has done, um, ever? This just isn't grabbing me at all ... and I loved Magic. So Bruce in this decade is two for five: The Rising and Magic are fantastic, and the Seeger Sessions, Devils and Dust, and this one just leave me scratching my head. "The Wrestler" and "The Last Carnival" are both fantastic, though. 6. I haven't seen a new movie in ages ... thinking about going to Watchmen this week. But then again, maybe not. Took a bunch of high school kids to see Slumdog Millionaire in January, which they all loved. Very enjoyable film. 5. I know very little about Napoleanic France, and need to be ready to teach it in about two weeks. 4. My students love me. 3. I still love rock and roll. 2. My dogs are all getting old, but they're still healthy and happy. 1. It feels good to have a secure job and benefits when the global economy has gone to hell in a handbasket. Oh wait, this just in ... we can't go to hell in a handbasket because the only company that makes those just went bankrupt. Oh well ... :-)

10. Truly Weepie. Thats whats happening. theres a reason for it. but it sucks 09. Wilco-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. that shit was manufactured by some loving souls. 08. trying to find peace with the people in your past that you love -- hard thing to do. Its a fucking mess--a real big fucking mess. It really is. 07. The colors test (can you take that online anywhere?) --my better half is all green and I am all BLUE. Everlasting Blue. We have some work to do I suppose--no snuggles for me! but its awright. 06. realizing you have five more in the top ten! 05. A story called "N" by Stephen King--that was great. Read it a few times (a few is a bad number) 04. Terror Management Theory.. I am a believer. Unfortunately. 03. I woke up without an alarm clock today. That was pretty damn cool. 02. Ayinger made my day! Thanks man. All the appreciation I can give! 01. Boston Spaceships landed on my damn house.

N...is that from the latest short story-bundle? Man, I'm so lagging behind in the reading department.
Anyway...on my mind in ten queries:
10. I'm getting transplanted tio yet another store, just a month after I settled close to the one I'm working at and now I have another train journey to make. I FUCKING HATE commuting!
9. I am so not motivated to start my new position. I fact I'm close to quitting and selling up and returning home. More on that later on....
8. The all-female work environment is like being a mouse in a world ruled by cats. The bitching and whining is too much to take. The backstabbing there cost me my position there. Said goodbyes to some of them today who seemingly weren't too fussed about me going away. Always worked my ass off at that place and that simply is just not acceptable in some environments, especially since most of them use a lot of time socializing. So I was a threat? No idea what the hell happened in the last few weeks but after today I'm sure enough that I'm on my way out of that business. Just a few months hanging on because I'll be 10 years with the company and that entitles me to long service leave. Fuck 'em.
7. I am about to join a gym. I come home every day with such low energy levels I just need to pep up. Nice gym in my neighborhood, look forward to shedding a few pounds.
6. My mother survived a heartscare two weeks ago. Seems she has too much calcium in her blood which at one stage render her blood almost syrupy in her veins. She ended up in hospital but was released the same day. Needs blood thinning medication which will not work well on her health as she is a recovering cancer patient....
5. To make matters worse my mother has lost any will to live. After the death of my father she has been trying to get on her feet but she suffers from a broken heart. She lost 10 kilos and cries a lot, has friends around her who try to take her mind off things but she is still far away of letting go. My dads' stuff is still in the house and keeps on reminding her consistently of his presence. What can you do? She cannot afford to grow weaker, if her cancer reappears she may not have the strength to fight it a second time. She'll come visit later this year but I hope it's sooner rather than later, she may not have the power to get on a plane and make the 22-hour trip....
4. My sister's collapsing under the weight of juggling a bastard of an ex-husband, a new relationship, two teenage children of which one gives her constant grief, a weak physical condition and the demands of a job together with taking care of my mother. She can't cope for too much longer...
3. I am on the hot seat here. I can't do a thing. Only hope the family can pull together. In combination with my job situation I'm inclined to chuck it in...but I won't. But damn, this is hard.
2. Good news with Eno coming to Sydney. got tickets and a mate who is trying to arrange a meeting with him...I'm not even sure that if that happens I want to. But hey, something to look forward to.
1. I absolutely adore the place I live in. I feel right at home and don't want to leave. You know, no onw can take that away from me...unless this landlord, like the previous two decides to move into this house herself...I enjoy sitting on the back porch, watching the lights on the sportsfield and the houses in the valley below, listening to music on my iPod, enjoying the balmy nights and having a beer in reach....it is Australia at its best.

maarts: #8-10 especially regarding working in a place that's accustomed to everyone moving like molasses. the diplomatic skills needed would failed friggin ghandi. stupid shits couldn't see beyond their noses that THEY'll be out on their asses when the store fails, especially with the downward spiral of music sales AND of the economy.
but then this happening after the commute had been solved so neatly...aargh!
#7 absolutely DO it.
#6-3 ouch, all the way down THAT line. too much of ANY electrolyte, especially calcium or potassium can throw off the muscles' synchronicity...the heart's the most dangerous one to feel that effect... they gotta balance that out.
my empathy goes to your sister too....that's a lot to keep flying simultaneously.
just hang in there, find the time to work off some of this effing stress and just continue to find joy whereEVER you can...in music, in your new house, volleyball, footy, perhaps a beer or two, eh?
...but just find it where you can, maarts.

You are right Doc (and thanks for the ups Don too!)...what really amazed me that after all the hard work I did in the last few months my 'colleagues' couldn't even bother giving me a farewell card or some sort of sending off or goodbye. Shook my hands with some who were genuine sorry to see me go- my own team couldn't bother. Fuck them all. In all sense, I'm glad I'm going.
And as soon as I sort my roster out I'll be heading for a gym and box my frustrations off there.

Damn, maarts, I've never felt like more of a complete asshole for popping in and posting a Wilco list throwing the thread to another page without even looking at your venting of your frustrations. My bad, dude. That was dumb and thoughtless as shit. I feel like I could make a list too of things that are pressing the shit out of me at the moment and other things that are simply every day life demons that are simply bugging me to death, but you seem to be at a really tough juncture in your life right now. Perhaps it's the roughest time you've ever been through even tho of course I couldn't know that.
All I can say is I've been praying about your situation, especially about your mother ever since I read about it all a few minutes ago. And I promise to remember you in my prayers throughout the week. Once again I apologize for my thoughtless actions. Peace to you, my friend.
