I once bought what was labelled – even right on the CD – as a John Hiatt disc only to discover when I popped it in the stereo, that it was actually a Blind Melon album. Returned it promptly the next day. OK, that’s not something good to say about Blind Melon, I suppose (or necessarily bad for that matter – I was looking for a Hiatt disc, dammit), but it is the only time that their music and my ears have ever crossed paths for longer than about 30 seconds.

I absolutely love Blind Melon, especially Soup, and think that that album was criminally underrated. It is one of the most New Orleans albums I have ever heard, and Hoon sings with a sadness and sincerity that you've just gotta love.
The first album is great, too, although it's a shame that it'll forever be equated with "the bee girl."
Oh, and I love Hoon's back-ups on UYI.

Blind Melon isn't as horrible as some people say.
