I've always been curious. Which Stooges album do people love the most. all three major studio releases brung the awesome in their own ways.
So which is it?

imo, The original Stooges album was a super cool, studied, disaffected snotty punk document. Some stone cold classics, though "We Will Fall" is dubious, if not utterly terrible. Punk anthems.
Fun House is tremendous. The difference between this and the debut is like going from black-and-white to multi-colour 3D instantly. As though the boys finally got laid inbetween albums and/or did some serious drugs. It's like Iggy's art jazzpunk statement.
Raw Power comes on the aftermath of ridiculous band drama and stupid drug habits, but it's as far as i can tell a perfect hard rawk album. It outdoes AC/DC, Ramones, and any number of other assorted hard rock bands at their own game. So: Hard-rock masterpiece.

I voted for Fun House, but it's a dead heat between the three. Raw Power is the most consistent (no "We Will Fall" or "L.A. Blues") but I love Ron Asheton's guitar playing, and so kind of feel cheated having to settle for him on bass on that album (which is a pretty nitpicky complaint, as Williamson also wails). I take Fun House over the Stooges simply because I loves me some saxophone.

Kill City...I think at least one of the Ashetons was playing and James Williamson was fucking incredible.
FWIW.

i used to think that Fun House destroyed Raw Power. but then i started to think that Raw Power destroyed Fun House. However then i went back to Fun House.
All three albums are wildly different from each other, in execution and sound and performance and yeah...
it's a matter of preference, the Garage Rawk way of asking someone if they prefer martinis or Jack Daniels.

if i had to choose, i'd say RockyS said it best: I take Fun House over the Stooges simply because I loves me some saxophone.
