OK, Rit helped with the first few choices. I apologize that I included zero Final Cut songs. I'm not familiar with it at all because when I heard it, I was SO not impressed. I'm truly sorry there were so many picks from The Wall as I hardly even like that album, only a few songs. I just picked the ones I figured people might be upset with me omitting. "Mother", however, was omitted on purpose I hate that song! "Us and Them" is my pick, btw. Included "Learning To Fly" because I've heard someone around here say they really liked it, but, to me, it would be an absolute joke if it got a single vote. OHHHH yeah, I forgot to add that the reason I left off "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was because it is divided into two different places with 9 parts. I figured that wouldn't be fair. Awrighty then, take you pix.

This was a tough choice. Certainly not "Comfortably Numb", although it surely is a classic. By no means "Learning To Fly", despite the fact there is nothing wrong with that song, and it is amazing. Now "Us And Them" I can most definitely agree with (excellent choice, Melon). To call "Bike" the greatest song the Floyd ever wrote is to unwittingly reveal one's penchant for the tongue-in-cheek to be a tad overt. (Nuthin' wrong w/that Then it hit me. For one, there is simply no room for doubt - not one molecule - that the single greatest SONG I've EVER HEARD LIVE was when Floyd performed "Welcome To The Machine" live in Providence, Rhode Island in 1986 during their indoor-venue "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" Tour. When I tell you with a straight face that this ONE SONG PERFORMED LIVE was, in and of itself, more spectacular than Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, and when I add that indeed, this one single song performed live utterly eclipsed and overwhelmed every other concert in its entirety I've ever seen before or since, I am not utilizing one iota of hyperbole. That one tune played live by Gilmour & Company (sans Waters, alas) was more spectacular, more stunning, more involving, dramatic, moving, powerful, and apocalyptic than anything I've ever experienced in the sonic realm. Nothing in this lifetime shall ever even have the OPPORTUNITY to come close. Not by a light year. Therefore, I deem it the best song in the Floyd catalogue.

Thorn, you're nuts. Did you know that? Anyway, since Wish You Were Here is the only song listed that has more than a hint of humanity, it's the clear winner. The only song in the Pink Floyd catalog I'd ever willingly cue up.

Haha, thanx Ken (I'm sure... By the way, "Wish You Were Here" was my 2nd choice. You have done well. It deserves no less. I am inclined to agree with you.

KenH, if you wanted humanity in Floyd songs, you should have voted "Bike".
i see that someone else did though, and that puts "Bike" in the unlikely lead. woo hoo

Hey, I HAD to go with "Bike" after running down all the options! Now I grew up with Floyd and have just about all but a couple of the bands releases plus numerous solo outputs, but I couldn't get myself to even look at anything off the overplayed The Wall (I'm probably in the minority that rather spin The Final Cut instead....) or Wish You Were Here. After running my eye up and down the list a couple of times and thinking, 'if I had the chance right now to hear any of these, what would it be....' "Bike" was what it came down to! Hey, another day/another mood, fuck who knows... Besides, it's a list of "fave" NOT "greatest"! I am curious what THIS is going to sound like: On An Island out on March 7, US First real solo album in over 20 years....guess he thought, 'fuckme, Rog did a g'dam opera...I mus' put SOMEthing out!' Only thing I've heard is that he got help by Graham Nash and David Crosby on it. .....hmmmmm: Crosby, Gilmour, & Nash => the latest supergroup of the 21st Century? WAIT! how 'bout: David + David + Graham.....as a hidden track you get a 22 minute space jam of "Welcome To The Boomtown" !!
