aw, Man, had I noticed it was s'posed to be favorite, why I'd'a jumped on the Bike bandwagon too ! (heh heh)
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like its got a little brass bell and plenty things to make it look good. I'd give it to you if I could but I borrowed it. (You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world, I'll give you anything, anything that you want, thing)
Ayinger! Holy shit that is amazing news about the new Gilmour solo album! I hadn't heard of it. Very exciting. I have high expectations for this.
Did anyone watch Gilmour's recent live DVD, where he performs an acoustic version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond? It blew me away . . . before watching/listening, you're all "Now how the hell do you pull off an acoustic Shine On?", and then, like the true magician he is, Gilmour proceeds to show you how. It is nothing short of stunning

Impossible to choose...I pass.
Gilmour's actually coming through Chicago as one of only six N American cities he's doing...two shows at the Rosemont Theater...and the fan club pre-sale began on Dec 24th like 2 weeks before the sale to the 'General Public'(Jan 11th I believe).....before I realized this it was 3 days to the day the seats are going on to TicketBastard...erm, what was LEFT of the tickets, that is.
Called up my neighborhood scalping organization...225 buckeroos per! For Row fucking 'U'...
The woman explained that the FACE value for those is $135 so 225 wasn't UNreasonable.
But the buddy I'd discussed this show with, a guy who I've seen Floyd twice with, said that tickets for him AND his son would just kill him at that price. Fuck.
I've had to let that idea go...but GAWD, Gilmour with a band? And no, it can't be CroZ and Nash...I think the disc is actually like a mini-Santana invite-shitloads-of-guests affair...

Totally worth it, Roccer. Even at twice that price. But obviously . . . there's a limit to what we can shell out. Man, that hurts. I'd pay a pretty penny to get into a Gilmour show. A pretty bright penny indeed...

I just checked for the closest show to me. . . . it's in Oakland, CA . . . . $195/balcony/Row "S" was the cheapest available . . . . . If it were in August, or late summer, *maybe* . . . .but April 14 is too soon, alas. . . . :'{

DROOOoooOOOoooLL!
David Gilmour has assembled a brilliant band of world renowned musicians, who will join him to play the sell-out 25 date ‘On An Island’ tour. The tour, David’s first since the record-breaking 1994 Pink Floyd Division Bell tour, starts in Europe in March, goes to North America in April and returns to the UK at the end of May. ‘On An Island’, the wonderful new album, is released on 6 March 2006.
The musicians in David Gilmour’s band are:
Phil Manzanera - Roxy Music guitarist and co-producer of ‘On An Island’ Richard Wright - Pink Floyd’s keyboard player Guy Pratt - bass player with Pink Floyd and Roxy Music Jon Carin - keyboards and longtime player with Pink Floyd Steve DiStanislao - drums, recently played with Crosby & Nash
The concert set-list is still to be decided but is likely to combine David’s favourite Pink Floyd tracks with tracks from ‘On An Island’.

No Fuckin' Shit .
I haven't a prayer in ever seeing a show but that Manzanera's co-producing the new disc is interesting....just remembered too that I believe 3 of the cuts will be instrumental.
And I too have seen most of the Gilmour DVD -- GREAT sound on that as well!! And a funny moment as well if I remember -- in a lull between songs, a quiet polite British voice almost unobtrusively pops up from the audience and says, "Something from Animals, please."

I can just imagine that...a voice sorta like Harry Potter's red-haired buddy's...
That's funnier than shit.

Gotta love the politeness in the request. So very British.

holy jesus. "Bike" is still in the lead. I'm very impressed with the tastes of all of the Pink Floyd posters here for your consensus opinion that "Bike" is the favoured Floyd song for all. Each and every one of you has done a great service here. It will not be forgotten.

Bang bang- Here comes Echoes! Bike is like a children's drawing with pencils on your brand new wallpaper, cute and charming but in the end it fades away. Echoes however is a spacetrip that keeps on going in your mind, from the folktripsy start through the nitro-acidic spacetrip with its existentialistic seagull screams to its final conclusion. No contest, Your Honour!
