Oh yeah. "Bad". I just happen to think that the live versions of this song are soooooo much better. I doubt anyone here disagrees with me, too.

Not that I don't love The Unforgettable Fire. I just think that besides the track, "The Unforgettable Fire" the rest of the album is mediocre. Actually, "With Or Without You" is the only U2 song I like better than that song. OK, while I (obviously) don't think UF is a great album, how can you call Pride mediocre? It's deservedly one of the great rock anthems. And Wire is a simply amazing track as well. The problem with UF isn't that it's mediocre -- there's nothing mediocre about it! The problem is that every track is either a gem or a dud. And there are just too many duds for it to be a great record.

"Pride" to me is just like Bad. MUCH better live. I never cared to much for the studio version. Dunno why. For some reason, when you have the crowd singing with Bono on this song, it's fifty times better, if you ask me. At the end of Rattle and Hum, the movie, when they all of a sudden turn on the lights at the end of the song, that's actually what I hope heaven is like.
And "Wire"? Hell yeah! It kix ass! I also love that mellow song after "The Unforgettable Fire" about a roman candle or whatever. Forgot the name. I guess I was wrong calling the other songs mediocre. But there's no doubt the Joshua Tree is better, IMO.

The whole of UF is perfect, except for the take-it-or-leave it "4th of July" and the lamentably awful "Elvis Presley & America". The other 8 songs I prefer to anything on Joshua Tree.
I'll grant that "With or Without You" is a great ballad of its type (now somewhat overplayed) and both "Exit" and "Bullet the Blue Sky" offer something worthwhile. But easy-listening clunkers like "Where the streets...", "In Gods Country", "Red Hill Mining Town" and "I Still Haven't Found..." make me vomit.

If I had to pick one, I'd have to go with Boy. That being said, I'm gleefully waiting the day when these guys stop making albums.
