Well, I searched all through 'Influential Music' and 'Strar Your Musical Thread' and didn't see this poll...
Curious to see what gets deemed the best here...

OK, had to mull it over for a sec...it's a really tough call, considering they have so many great albums, but I went w/ 'Abbey Road'. The production is amazing, better than 'Sgt. Peppers' IMO, the flow is really cool, especially on the back half of the album...and most importantly the songs are gold. Although it's very short, one of my favorites from the album is "The End"; George and Ringo go nuts on that number....Also "She's So Heavy" is in contention for tops Beatles' song IMO....

1) Please Please Me (22 March 1963) 2) With the Beatles (22 November 1963) 3) A Hard Day's Night (10 July 1964) 4) Beatles for Sale (4 December 1964) 5) Help! (6 August 1965) 6) Rubber Soul (3 December 1965) 7) Revolver (5 August 1966) 8) Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1 June 1967) 9) The Beatles (22 November 1968) 10) Yellow Submarine (17 January 1969) 11) Abbey Road (26 September 1969) 12) Let It Be (8 May 1970)
Those are the official Beatles UK releases ...
No "Magical Mystery Tour" as it was a double EP ...
First period Best Album would be "A Hard Day's Night"
Second period would be "Sgt. Pepper's ... because I was there and I saw the "planetary" commotion that album did create on so many fronts ...
Third period would be "Abbey Road" ... Just a perfect "Swan Song" album ...
"Yellow Sub." being a soundtrack didn't get any consideration either ... It would have been for "least attractive" anyway !
"Least attractive" Beatles albums title goes to ...
The bunch of U.S. releases assembled by Capitol !!

I'm going to have to go with the White Album. That one is really the only one that I still listen to quite a bit. I like the raw dirty production value of the record.

Although I voted for Abbey Road, I listen to the White Album, and Let It Be more... I love the songs and the raw production you speak of on the White album; but it's in bad need of a remastering job...There is no bass what so ever....I mean go listen to Rubber Soul, the bass is thumping, but it's nowhere to be found on the White album...Plus double plastic jewel cases suck! I'd love for the packaging to be better.

My 2 cents...
Sgt. Pepper may have had a huge impact when it came out but it's easily aged the worst of all of those albums.
Sides 3&4 of The Beatles are too inconsistant and drag it down IMO. Where it just the first record I'd agree it's head and shoulders above the others. Though I fully expect it to win this poll anyway.
I voted for Revolver but I could have just as easily voted for Rubber Soul or Abby Road.

I voted for Revolver, but also could have voted for Rubber Soul, since I see both of them as perfectly transitioning the lads from early sound to later sound, capturing pieces of both perfectly.

Yep, pretty much my thoughts about those album...I think I'd give the slight edge to Rubber Soul; kinda dig the more 'pop' sound of it...

Its really funny how for years Sgt. Pepper received all the mainstream attention as being their opus, and then somehow real music fans took it back and reminded people that Revolver was in many ways every bit as musically monumental.
I mean I wasn't born as of '66, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't very much on the airwaves that sounded like "Tomorrow Never Knows".

Paul - BTW, you know that the guitar work on the last section of Abbey Road was by Paul, John, and George. I read the order of who plays what at some point, but I can't remember it all now. But the important thing is that a lot of the instrumental work in the Abbey Road "suite" was Macca. But not the drumming. That's all Ringo.
As for the actual topic here ... damn, pick one between Revolver, Abbey Road, and Rubber Soul. Help! would be up there as well ... with The Beatles also making a claim ... really, really hard choice ...
Revolver. It never gets old, and comes the closest to actually summing the band up in one LP.

I voted for With The Beatles.
A year or two ago, I would've voted for either Revolver or Rubber Soul. I think my problem is that I've listened to the later albums so much that they've become too familiar (yet not losing any quality) and I've neglected the earlier albums (which is easy to do). With the Beatles is flawless. The band perfects their early rock and roll sound and there is no filler on the album.

Abbey Road is my favorite, but I think Revolver is stylistically better. DED is right that if "The Beatles" had been consolidated on quality, it would win over every one of these.
None of these are as good as Pet Sounds.

None of these are as good as Pet Sounds. Word. It's hard to get past the legend of THE BEATLES but once you do, this is so true.

Best Beatles Album? Damn, Paul beat me to it. I've been meaning to do this poll for a while and I've no idea why I've put it off. Anyway, my vote goes to the white album. Easily their best. Revolver and Abbey Road would be tied for 2nd for me.
